I have been watching the Olympics since I can remember. The first games I vaguely remember were the 1972 games. There have been more memorable moments than I could probably list. Then…
…Yesterday morning, I was watching Olympic Coverage on NBC when this unfolded. I literally had a lump in my throat and tears running down my face. I got caught up in the emotion of a commentator who has felt every high, every low, and more, in the sports’ recent Olympic history. The historical implications coming to life right in front of me. The intensity of the athletes and the fact that they were accurately defining what so many speak loosely about in sports, when they say they left it all out on the field, court, etc., Then knowing the thousands of hours of pushing one’s self to the brink of capability, only to do it again. All of it, to know yourself as a competitor so well that you know you can reach down deeper than ever before and pull out an truly epic effort that resulted in a Gold medal win by mere inches. Absolutely incredible! Check this link out! Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall pull off the miraculous.
Can Diggins Answer?!?!? It’s less than a minute long but it might just make your day!
Update: It’s four years later, and I still get tears running down my cheeks when I watch this. Truly awesome!
