Day one. White Mountains National Forest. Camp set up just before the rain. Showers tore through the valley and the winds kicked up ahead of their arrival, which made getting the rain fly attached to the tent a bit of a comical challenge of skill and patience. Theodore wanted to go home, be with mom, and use some electricity by the time bedtime came. No power at this White Mountain National Forest campground. Everything changed though when I called the twins out of their sleeping bags to come to watch the clearing night skies with me. As we watched several “shooting stars” from the Perseids meteor shower, everyone relaxed, we slowed down, and nature became the theme. All of us slept very well.
