Day eight. Acadia National Park. Schoodic Woods Campground.
We woke up to a foggy, wet morning on day eight. The kids got up and rode their bikes around Loop A several times. Jacqueline and I played several hands of Go Fish while I did some work on my laptop. She beat me soundly. We ran some errands in Winter Harbor before heading to the Schoodic Institute for the Marine Touch Tank put on by the rangers at Schoodic Education and Research Center. The kids loved it! In the evening we were back at the amphitheater for the Jr. Ranger and Evening Programs. Both were a hit. Then it was lights out, listening to the Sox on the radio, and early to sleep.

The twins both went to sleep studying their Jr. Ranger books. Jacqueline’s book is seen on the tent floor.

Ranger Deirdra is pictured here swearing in Theodore and Jacqueline as official Jr. Park Rangers. The twins and the Rangers took this quite seriously, and it was well received.

Part of the Jr. Ranger books included more than a dozen activities for the kids to complete. One activity had them working to identify park signs and the fact that they are shaped like arrows.
