We were fortunate enough to get to Abrams Pond again this year. We had lots of downtime with family and enjoyed a gorgeous week of humidity-free summer weather.
Between reading books, cooking lobsters, and hilarious games of Bananagrams, we celebrated my wife’s birthday at Beal’s Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor. We had a blast at Seal Cove on the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island. My wife, the twins, and I spent some time in Acadia National Park as well, primarily checking out the entire Eagle Lake Trail and the views that came with it. We had an awesome week with countless laughs, and just as many memories made. Lord willing, we will be back again.

- Every year the sky here just captivates me.
- It seems that some afternoons are just a showcase for passing clouds and blue sky.
- Looking out at Seal Cove from the picnic area.
- Theodore and I were kayaking beside each other and I snapped this picture on the fly.
- The moon was a feature every night.
- It was good to see our bald eagle friend in his favorite tree again.
- Bald eagle high above the water.
- Just be glad that I didn’t post all the pictures that I took of this eagle.
- I love bald eagles especially when I can sit and watch one for an hour or two.
- This tree has eagles in it every year.
- This eagle stayed on the same branch for at least four hours before it got too dark to see.
- Faintly the moon is visible, ducks are swimming, and the pond is placid.
- This belted kingfisher dives from a birch tree at water’s edge.
- It’s hard to capture a picture of the belted kingfisher because they are in constant motion, and fast.
- The shapes of belted kingfisher in flight.
- The light was fading and the pictures don’t do justice to the colors and beauty of this bird.
