I couldn’t begin to count the number of ways we have been blessed by the addition of our twins to the family. It’s been almost 9 years since they were born and I wish I had tracked every moment that Theodore and Jacqueline made us laugh, or impressed us with their creativity, or just melted our hearts with their love for just about everything.
Well, the other day, on a mild spring afternoon, my wife, the twins, and I decided to eat dinner out on the back deck. This is not earth-shattering news, we do this fairly often. But the other night, just the idea of it, led to a burst of creativity, entrepreneurship, and just plain fun. As I sat down to eat steak cooked on the grill, I was presented with a coupon from Theodore.
During our dinner, I noticed that Jacqueline had a notebook and pen at the table, and sporadically stopped eating to make notes. Her notes came as a result of conversations with her business partner, Theodore. I realized that the notebook page was full. There was a long list of who knows what on that sheet.
As we talked at dinner on the 14th, we each took the time to speak about Grampy (my Dad). It was 3 years to the day that my Dad had died, and we each shared memories around and around the table again. We laughed at some of the memories he was so known for, with his sense of humor and simple delights. We also felt the tender emotions of missing one we love who is no longer physically present among us.
Once dinner was done, it had been decided that we were going to sit down as a family to watch a show or a movie in our family room. I had been working outside before dinner and went back outside to finish up some things before it was dark. When I came inside I was presented with a ticket to attend the movie for the evening.
I sat an enjoyed the entertainment with my wife and the twins. When their big brother got home from work, he sat and watched with us. The twins thought that was awesome. All in all, it was a great night. Each of the establishments received high ratings and rave reviews. The twins let me know that they were most definitely open for business.
