After a wild battle on Saturday, the Flames went to Nashua to play the NE Edge at Conway Arena. The Flames got their offensive game in gear and skated north with an 8-0 win.
Some positives from the trip to Nashua include how well the Flames moved the puck and how well they recovered defensively when they lost the puck. All lines were rolling and everyone played in all scenarios. It was another lesson in hockey, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal skill development.
The Flames return to league play this weekend with games against the Cyclones and Capitals.
Please enjoy some pictures from Nashua. These games don’t play themselves, and here are some photos of the action.
- Sean turns the corner and gets a shot on net.
- The Flames get create a scoring chance off to the side of the net.
- Cam, Teddy, and Soucy look for angles and options in the offensive end.
- Ian makes a pass toward the front of the net.
Between The Pipes (or in the area)
Travis wasn’t too busy between the pipes early in the game, so during a stoppage in play, this skating exhibition happened. Just beautiful.

Travis offers us a demonstration of the original version of ‘butterfly’ goaltending, ‘butterfly 1.0’ if you will.
- Ian rips a shot on net as “Hollywood” Hawkes completes a call with his agent and was overheard saying something like, “I mean, am I open for a one-timer in the slot, or not?!?!?”
- Gavin “Rooster” PearTree takes a feed from Jacob “Mi casi es su casi” Casimiro.
- For some reason Colby’s helmet communication malfunctioned and he was directed to just start shooting pucks at different opponents. (No players were harmed in this photo)
- Soucy gets behind the defense for a shot on goal. The save was made. The Edge goalie made a lot of amazing saves in the game.
- This is the ‘russkiy medved’ in his natural habitat, Notice the bent knees for balance and power.
- Colby looks for an open teammate in action against the Edge.
- Garrett and Teddy try to do some blocking the end around with Logan trying to get outside.
- Gavin gets in close for a shot on net at Nashua.
- Caleb makes a pass from the point like it’s no big deal.
- Sean cuts to the middle of the ice and takes a backhand flip shot from the ankle of his stick.
- Teddy is hoping that he and Cam are thinking the same thing, which is, “Look! An open teammate in the slot!”
- If you want to beat the Mighty Fin to the puck you better show up early, or with a plate of wings.
- My first thought, “What a battle for the puck right in the crease!” Second thought, “Uh, move your feet and quit reaching!” Or vice-versa.
- This photo is more about the colors than it is about the score.
- A quick game of ‘duck, duck, goose’ between periods.
- Logan is thinking shot, but he might be thinking pass to Ian. While I was typing, he took a shot.
- The Flames offer congratulations to their goalie, Travis, on a shutout victory.
