We know that the 2010 Flames will enter the post-season tournament as the #5 seed, finishing 7-5-2 in their tier. With league games finished, the Flames played a pair of games over the weekend to get ready for the trip to North Conway this Friday.
The Flames played the NE Edge on Saturday in a 5-0 win over at JFK in Manchester. Then on Sunday they played the Seacoast Spartans at West Side Arena. The Flames lost 4-1 to a tough defensive team but it was a great level of competition to get ready to play in the playoffs. After being off for 10 days of quarantine the weekend marked the return to the ice for the team. So this week of ice time will go a long way toward getting back on track to play up north.
It appears that the Flames will open the tournament at 6:30pm on Friday night against Rochester and then play at 9:30am against Keene on Saturday morning. The Flames went 0-2-2 against these two clubs in the regular season.
Here are some pictures from the game on Sunday afternoon. Click on the pictures to get close-ups if you so please. Enjoy! Have a great week.
- The Flames didn’t get a lot of scoring chances in the game, but they had some offensive flurries.
- Here, Soucy’s shot is nudged just wide of the post.
- The Flames did get a goal on this shot from Colby.
- As Colby shot the puck there was a lot of space on the near side and the puck beat the goalie to the spot.
- There’s just something about seeing the kids waiting to compete as a team, larger than any one of them.
- Opening face-off, Valentine’s Day, 2021, West Side Arena. 2010 Flames.
- Teddy rips a shot on net against the Spartans.
- Travis quickly contemplates, “Did that shot go through my glove? Did I know it was just high and wide of the net? Doesn’t my form look awesome?”
- Travis leaves some bait on the near side post and deflects this shot wide.
- This is just proof for Coach Scott that Finley appeared to be listening to him. Meanwhile, Soucy seems perturbed by my photo from 100 feet away.
- Cam and Soucy look for room to operate, but there are defenders sticks everywhere.
- Colby looks like he was stung by a bee as this shot stays low, and just wide of the net.
- Jordan and Gavin are out huntin’ wabbits, er uh, I mean, hunting the puck.
- This was a penalty shot that the Spartans scored on as a result of a questionable call on the ice.
- What was a 3-on-0 break for the Spartans turned into not much of anything.
- Cam just wants to shoot the puck but the defender is standing on it.
- Coach Tim, “Travis, I cant even look at you right now.” Coach Nick, “Everybody except Finley is listening to me.” Coach Scott, “Whew! This speech has me all fired up!”
- Jacob gets a nice pass from Soucy and fires a low shot on net but the Flames could not get to the rebound.
- Travis makes a save on a well directed shot on goal.
- Jax will do anything to defend his end of the ice…including block a high shot with his helmet…just because he can.
