After a long trip to northwest NY, and a full day of exploring the unparalleled beauty along the Niagara River, the 2010 Flames still had a hockey game to play. They played a very competitive game against the Bowie (MD) Bruins. The game ended in a 2-2 tie to begin the tournament for both teams.
The Flames play two more games on Saturday. Andy Soucy scored the Flames first goal, and the tournaments’ first goal on a rebound from Gavin Petrie’s shot on goal. The Flames led 1-0 after one period. The Flames killed a 5 on 3 shorthanded scenario just seconds before Bowie tied the game at 1-1. The score remained tied after two periods. In the 3rd period, Bowie took a 2-1 lead on a nice deflection in front of the net that got past Will Rosenbeck, playing net, for the Flames. Shortly thereafter, the Flames tied the game when Logan McCain kept the puck in the zone up top and moved the puck to Alex Panitz. Panitz got the puck to Jacob Casimiro who fired a shot on net. Before the puck reached the Bowie goaltender, Soucy tipped the puck past the goalie for the tying goal. The Flames were forced to kill a couple more penalties and held on for a 2-2 tie in game one.
Flames scoring:
1) Soucy (1) from Petrie (1).
2) Soucy (2) from Casimiro (1) and Panitz (1).
Travis Ingalls and Will Rosenbeck in net for the Flames.
