It has been nearly a month since I wrote about this team, the 2010 Flames. A lot has happened since the last article but let’s just start with this. I hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving. I find that there is always something to be thankful for.
I only took pictures at one of the games this weekend, against the Greater Boston Vipers on Saturday at JFK Coliseum. I took 99 pictures so my wife cooly said, “You got 99 problems, but hitting the net isn’t one of them”. Haha! I laughed. Truthfully though, the Flames did have an awful lot of scoring chances over the weekend, and even though they scored 8 goals in three games, they probably could comfortably scored another 8 goals on ‘front of the net’ chances.
Even so, the 2010 Flames played three very competitive games against three different teams. They played the Greater Boston Vipers, the Northern Cyclones, and the Upper Valley Storm. The Flames won early on Saturday morning, 4-2 after trailing 1-0 after the first period. The Vipers are a good time, always trying to move the puck. Their coaching staff impressed me by the way they handled their players during the game. Always teaching, staying positive, and trying to establish good habits with the team. Sunday morning, also early, the Flames lost to the Cyclones, 1-0 in a very good game. The Cyclones are good team, they skate very well, and defend the their end of the ice with gusto. Sunday afternoon, the 2010 Flames played their first GSL (Granite State League) game against Upper Valley. The Storm took an early lead and held a 2-0 advantage after the first period. Manchester came back with a monster middle period, and managed a 4-3 win in an exciting game from start to finish. This should be a good match up any time these two teams meet.
