It was my 11-year old daughter’s turn to bring the barrel down the driveway, and to get the mail. The afternoon was getting later, and slowly losing light. The temperature was 17°F, and felt like 10°F. That wasn’t a selling point in getting my daughter outside. I put a big warm jacket on her, and she went out to do her job. I decided to walk down the driveway (almost 400 feet) with her. As we walked we talked. Our brief conversation was consumed by the fire red sky we could see through the trees. Breathtaking. We snapped a picture at the bottom of the driveway, looking across the road, which doesn’t do the scene justice. She was cold, but we shared an awesome sunset for a moment, and it was worth the cold walk.
