Well folks, high school playoff hockey time came and went here in New Hampshire, and it was awesome! There are some great people in the state of NH high school hockey. The kids are the reason why there is anything to see or talk about, and remember that they deliver a whole lot more than they don’t. It’s all about the kids.
The hockey tournaments are done! The Champions have been crowned! Congratulations to every single team in NHIAA Hockey for competing, and for completing a wonderful hockey season. We should take a moment to count the blessings we have because who would have guessed that just completing a season would be so uncertain. This stage, NH High School hockey, is a tremendous place to showcase your teams and your talents. Job well done. Congratulations, of course, to the State Champions in each division!
In Boy’s D1 action, #1 Concord beat #2 Bedford, 3-0 to capture their second straight title, while also sharing the title with Bedford in 2020. They finished the season with a 19-0-2 record, and have tallied a 63-3-2 record over the last three seasons.
In Boy’s D2 action, #1 St. Thomas kept the momentum from their 3rd period explosion in the Semifinal en route to a 7-1 win over #3 Portsmouth-Newmarket. The Saints finished the season with a 23-0-0 record, counting Christmas Tournament games in Maine. St. Thomas only graduates one senior from this team and they have won, or shared the D2 title in three of the last four seasons. Meanwhile the Clipper Mules are on stable ground with plenty of talent and a solid coaching staff to lead them forward.
Over in D3, #1 Berlin-Gorham controlled their 3-1 win over #3 Belmont-Gilford from start to finish. They won the shots on goal advantage, 35-5. Berlin-Gorham, the Mountaineers, finished the season with a 20-1 record on the way to their 3rd straight D3 Championship.
In Girl’s action, #3 Hanover broke open a 1-0 game with four goals in the final period to beat #5 St. Thomas-Winnacunnet-Dover, 5-0. It was the 12th Hockey State Championship title for the Hanover girls.
