I was fortunate enough to make a quick trip down to Delaware over the weekend. I got to see some good college hockey, with the Ohio University Bobcats playing down on the campus of the University of Delaware.
Mainly, I was there to spend some time with our college senior, hockey player, winger, son. And to watch some good hockey. The ‘Fred Rust Ice Arena’ right on the university campus, is a great place to watch a game. They do a pretty good job in game presentation as well.
Ohio scored first, going up, 1-0 in the first period. Later, the Delaware Blue Hens tied things at, 1-1 before the period ended. The second period saw the Bobcats kill off three different 5-on-3 disadvantages, and special teams were on the ice for almost the entire period for both teams. The game was still tied, 1-1 through two periods.
In the final period, Ohio stayed out of the penalty box for the most part, and erupted for the final four goals of the game. By the time the clock had run to all zeroes, the Bobcats had earned a 5-1 victory on Friday night. I left the rink as the wind and rains from the remnants of Hurricane Ian passed through the area.
There was not much rest for the teams though, as the two teams were scheduled to meet again on Saturday morning at 10:00am. Here is a link to the YouTube broadcast of Friday night’s game.
I took a whole bunch of pictures over the two games. Here is a gallery of many pictures from Game 1 at the University of Delaware. Please feel free to click on the pictures to open them up, zoom in, and have a look around. Thank you.
