~ 21 Pictures From October ’23 ~
I take many more pictures than I share. I am always looking for scenes, wildlife, and weather. Kind of a random glimpse of symmetry, if that makes sense. Then, some pictures are just taken to remember, respect, and recognize. Here are 21 pictures from October ’23.
- Looking at the Washington Monument from the rooftop of the Cambria Hotel. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Looking at neighborhoods and buildings in the foreground of the U.S. Capitol, reflecting the warm and fading sunlight of a sunset. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- The next morning, we were approaching the Washington Monument after a visit to the White House. It was warm already so I made a line for the monument, in the shade. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Words don’t seem appropriate here. Just hats off, look, read, and feel the weight that most of us never had to carry. Walk around. Look Veteran’s in the eye and smile, or thank them. And pray a prayer of thanks. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- The Three Servicemen Statue. Beautiful work. I watched dozens and dozens of Veterans approach this statue. They passed their personal judgement on the art in silence, in conversation, but all seemed to relate instantly to a time and place long ago and far away. Tears of gratitude. - Walking through the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. The whole place struck me. And this room really hit me. As history gets erased we invite the ugliest aspects of it to our doorstep. “…lest you forget the things your eyes saw…” (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Without U.S. Grant, the legacy of Lincoln is diminished or possibly erased. I had to stop at the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Inside the U.S. Capitol Building. This tour was excellent. They should do tours the same way at the White House. Anyone who really knows me also knows that I really do love our flag, as seen here. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- A tiger, not an LSU Tiger, but a tiger nevertheless. This tiger was pacing the water’s edge at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park. It was a pretty neat place to visit, and way more hilly than you might think. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- If only our faith was always as bold and as big as this room. What a cool, beautiful place. Washington National Cathedral. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- I have always loved the red, white and blue. This was quite a beautiful presentation. Preseason hockey at Capital One Arena, Washington, DC. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- This little squirrel was having a grand old time on the green grass out in front of the Smithsonian Museums. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Looking past the pine toward some of the few autumn colors I saw this year. West Nashua, NH. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Over the years, I have seen this Great Blue Heron fishing or frogging this pond several times. West Nashua, NH. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Cloud maneuvers while heading toward Milford, NH. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- This opossum was working on balance while pacing along the top of this wall. Nashua, NH. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Same opossum, but now it was avoiding traffic coming and going from the loading docks at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua, NH. It got away unharmed. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- We gave the deer the okay to feed on any remnants of tomatoes, squash, or other plants that had sprung to life near our chicken pen. So they came right up and feasted. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- I found this little spotted salamander while cutting wood along Black Brook. It looked to be in rough shape. I put some water in this leaf and the salamander did drink. Then, after a while it wandered away. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Morning fog in Tilton, NH. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
- Turning big pine rounds into 15 lb. bags of dry kindling wood. (C) 1inawesomewonder.com 2023.
