Hockey Lane – Pallet Ceiling.
You will see in the before and after pictures, that this pallet ceiling in the hockey lane might not help our hockey players any, but it looks better.
Before –

- As you can see, the insulation, while trying to do its job, has been mostly in the way.

- Items that fell out of the insulation while I was working on this. Insulation. Insulation supports. Hockey puck. Golf ball. Ping pong balls. Small balls (used for hitting off a pitching machine with a small bat, like stick ball).
After –
Well, the insulation should stay in the ceiling a little better now. Personally, I think the whole things looks pretty cool now. With sticks and pucks hitting the ceiling more often than you might think, the pallet wood should keep things in tact. Working around pipes, hangers, and lights was interesting, especially with very imperfect pallet wood. Honestly though, I enjoyed the strategy of it all.
Now, that this portion is completed there will be many, many more pallet boards added to enclose the remaining area of the basement ceiling (or lack thereof). It’ll likely be a series of pallet ceiling stages, but I will get to it.
