Circles In The News
Earlier today there was a solar eclipse. April 8, 2024. Solar Eclipse 2024.
Yes indeed, some folks called it the Great North American Eclipse. It was cool. Literally, the temperature dropped a bit as the sun was 95% blocked from view by the moon for a few minutes, here in NH.
I was fortunate enough to capture a few photos of the event from our yard in Southern New Hampshire.
But here, on my limited outcropping of exposure to the outside world, I came across other circles in the news. Namely the one in the picture below. I saw this diagram shared by the Anchorage Police Department and I thought that this was a much bigger issue. Since this affects many people on a daily basis.
Just remember, some people think that it’s always their turn. While others don’t realize exactly when their turn comes around. In other words, there is a large, ‘me first, me first, me, me, me’ crowd. Then there is another crowd of, ‘I don’t always yield, but when I do, I have to be told that I have now yielded into confusion and indecision’ people.
The confused, undecided group then affects a third group of people, the ‘just do it right, the rules are simple, keep things moving, and everything will be just fine’ folks. These folks are then provoked to the point of temporarily joining the ‘me, me, me’ crowd. Kind of like pleading insanity during a criminal case.
Somewhere between the groups there is the world ‘yield’. I love these definitions because they sound so dramatic.
In reality though, most yields are short lived, and not that tough to deal with unless of course you are behind the confused and undecided.
- to surrender or relinquish to the physical control of another : hand over possession of
- to give (oneself) up to an inclination, temptation, or habit
- to relinquish one’s possession of (something, such as a position of advantage or point of superiority)
- to surrender or submit (oneself) to another
- to give up (one’s breath, life, or spirit) and so die
I just call it, wait your turn, but immediately ready to take your turn, and then do it. I don’t think that we will ever reach totality on this one. See you at the circle.
