Mother’s Day 2024 May 12
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I love you. I always have.
Recently, I have thought quite a bit about your family. About our family. The more I think about such things the more I thank God. In short, I cannot dwell on your family, our family, without thinking of God’s immeasurable grace and provision. That is a testimony.
It was God that put you and I together, and the rest of us too. You were and are the best instrument that God placed in our family’s lives.
You, and Dad were the dream team of parenthood. Your example, both of you, and your strengths allowed each of us to play to our strengths. No matter how long it took.
I haven’t polled anyone, but I would guess that you would get a majority vote on best sister, best aunt, best pastor’s wife, and best mom. You would never accept such awards, and that is why, exactly why, you would win.
You prayed for Dad to be the one. You prayed to become a pastor’s wife. You prayed to play a specific role. God put you in the role that you were so content to undertake. You were content. You were comfortable being exactly who you were. Now you have spent the last 60 years writing the job description and raising the bar on virtually every standard.
I know why God put me with you and Dad. He knew it was the very best chance that I had to survive, thrive, and live for Him. Words come and go, but my prayer is that for the rest of my days my actions not only reflect on how thankful I am that I got to be your son, but how immensely blessed I have been by God Almighty. Mom, have the most wonderful day. Keep praying and leading with love. Whatever you do, do not lose your competitive fire.
I love you with all my heart. Thank you for your example.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, God’s gift to me.
With tender love, Steve
Mother’s Day 2024 May 12
My wife Amaris is an amazing person. She is many things. Today I want to recognize her as a Mother. A tremendous Mother. Let’s also consider the idea that I might be one of the kids in the household compared to her.
Amaris, you are an incredible Mother. You can get more done around the house, while on a phone call, with one hand free then the rest of us combined. Your energy is matchless. I truly love that when it’s time to rest, you thoroughly enjoy the quiet pleasures of home.
You plan everything for us. Plan A, plan B, and more plans if needed. Thank you for tirelessly looking after all of us.
People may not know it, but you’re a tireless thinker who manages to keep everyone else in mind. Your generosity is never ending, and comes with no hesitation. Which is truly remarkable.
You love life. You love all of us, with every fiber of your being. We know it. We can feel it. You are incredible.
I cannot count the number of times I have looked over at you, or overheard you, and smile in awe. You inspire me every single day. The kids may not see all of this yet, but they will. When I see you going all in on every single thing you do, big or small, it makes me want to be a better version of myself.
One of my favorite things about you is your ability to laugh at yourself. You laugh easily. Laughing together has truly become our own language. I cherish the laughs we share together, with the kids, with everyone. We are fortunate to laugh often.
Another favorite is how many ideas you can produce, on the fly, about nearly anything. The kids and I might be considering the first idea, while you are already laying out the third, fourth, and fifth ones. That’s because literally anything is a possibility to you, and we all love that about you. Not every idea is a good one, but there’s no shortage of other ones to consider.
Truly, you are the glue that keeps us all together. It is awesome to know how much we are loved, by you, wife, and Mother. You are everyone’s favorite.
Thank you for sacrificing so much for the betterment of our family. You are a wonderful Mother. You are a positive influence on all of our children. Thank you my love.
Happy Mother’s Day, Amaris! You are truly one in a million.
For the kids, for me, we love you dearly. ~ Steve
