After all was said and done, the Bow Falcons improved to 10-1-1 on the season. Goffstown dropped to 5-5. According to records, streaks, common opponents, etc. Bow was supposed to win this game. Ultimately the young, talented team from Bow did win, but this was a battle from the opening faceoff.
Sunday, January 24, 2016. 330pm @ Sullivan Arena, St. Anselm College, Goffstown, NH – Belmont-Gilford @ Goffstown. Today reminded me of something from a quarter-century or so ago. I remember going to the old Boston Garden,…
I started this post back in October (2015) and I have posted several pictures from this trail in a slide show, but I wanted to single out some of those photos even more, so I…
The twins and I had a little bit of down time after school. We all stayed close together though.
As I get into the game itself, I will say that this Windham team is a good team. They appear to be well coached. They skate well as a team. They move the puck quickly, especially in the offensive end.
The play told a too familiar story for Grizzlie fans though, as either of two Goffstown defensemen could have raced behind the net and been the first player to the loose puck, but instead, neither one went, and Oyster River centered the puck to the slot and scored, or didn’t score, officially.
Saturday, January 16, 2016. 5pm @ Keene Ice, Keene, NH – Goffstown @ Keene. The Goffstown Grizzlies came to Keene after a week of practices, playing their first game since blowing out Timberlane last Saturday. As of late,…

I walked in the woods. I walked on crusted snow. There were no other foot steps. There was no trail. I followed some animal tracks, but mostly just the lay of the land. The crusted snow was slick in spots but I thought of how much more difficult this walk would be in the summer months of growth.
Goffstown definitely took more chances to make plays in the third period, and they would end up getting 13 shots on goal in the final stanza.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in…
Honestly, this roster will be better for having competed in the Bauer Hockey Christmas Classic. They gave Hanover all they could handle for 41 minutes before the Marauders broke through. They are capable. They are learning. The youngsters now have 9 games under their belt, including scrimmages, and I look forward to watching this team develop in 2016. The youngsters from Stephen Provencher to the veterans in Holt, Roy, and Greenwood will keep working. They’ll keep bonding. They’ll continue to develop and there will be wonderful moments on and off of the ice for the next couple of months.
Goffstown versus Bedford, always draws a little more attention. The neighboring towns have established quite the rivalry through athletic contests over the years. Well, today the hockey rivalry was renewed. Bedford is considered by most to be one of the top teams in Division I NH Hockey, and to start the season, they have done nothing but cement that notion, winning all three games they have played thus far. Goffstown on the other hand, well, they aren’t making anybody’s list of anything worth listing this year in Division II. Lists are also made to be re-written. Goffstown knew they were playing one of New Hampshire’s top teams.
Bauer Hockey christmas classic Saturday, December 26, 2015. 6pm @ JFK Coliseum, Manchester, NH- Goffstown came to JFK Coliseum after a 9-1 drubbing of Pembroke-Campbell on Wednesday night. Of course, everyone was coming off…
I did tell one friend and former colleague, that I wished I could just call an impromptu meeting in my office and have all of us there one more time, together, bringing all that each of us represents into that room, to see each other as we are, and enjoy some funny story, or laugh at ourselves as we often did. Oh, to look across that space and see the faces, the people, the efforts given for a common goal, and to know that we would see them all again. All of them again
Back in the first week of November I took a stroll off of the beaten path along the Piscataquog River in Goffstown. I thoroughly enjoyed this walk/hike on a beautiful fall day. As always, I wish I could walked this area some 200-300 years ago to see it as it was then. I think I’d like to canoe through these parts the next time I pass by this section of river.
We came together to get a job done while pursuing our own lives. We overlapped only as we allowed. And that was good. As it should be.
In no particular order, here are some of my favorite photos from my hike into Lost Lake. All Photos by 1inawesomewonder ©. Click “View Slide Show” or click on any of the pictures, to scroll…
In researching online, some local trails to pursue, I came across the Kuncanowet Town Forest and Conversation Area. I am so glad that I did. This area is, in my opinion, breathtakingly beautiful. I haven’t…
Walking some local Goffstown trails were more than enough for a NH fall foliage fix.
A tribute of sorts. Or, certainly my look into the chains that bind us. Those that don’t understand how one can be touched or moved by these actions, may well be the ones that need…
Looking west, past the Merrimack River, from our Manchester restaurant.
I thank my family, all around, for making this place come to life each summer; I am the beneficiary indeed.
Last Sunday morning I found peace in a place I’d never been before. Sitting on the top deck at the rental house in Waves, NC, I prayed, I wrote, I listened, I drifted, I sang,…

To Coach Hartwell, Coach Dodge, our baseball community, and the parents and families surrounding the players on our team:
As gravity took over and the baseballs’ path fell from the sky and rested finally into the opposing left fielder’s glove, my hopes for a miracle comeback were replaced with the reality that I knew could come. Almost immediately, I found the softer, sentimental side of me taking over and countless thoughts and memories started messing with my mind. I mean, I was still just making my way on to the field to shake hands with our opponents, and my mind was flashing memories of my own personal collection of “The Last Day of the Season”. As we shook hands, and I congratulated the other team and wished them well moving forward, a coach from the other team asked me to make sure that Goffstown, please, put in a bid to host the State Tournament next season. This was a vote of confidence and a compliment to how well our community had run the District Pool Play Tournament over July 8-14 this summer. Then, as I turned away from the end of the line, back towards our dugout, I could feel that choking feeling rise into my throat, and my eyes started to water despite my best efforts to keep such things at bay.
