Lunch Time!
As far as I know, this reaction was not planned. The twins were playing, then they heard the toaster ‘pop’, and Theodore quietly asked, “It’s lunch time?” I said, “Yes, it’s lunch time.” Instantly both…
The Red Sox have Boston singing in the streets
Unlike the at bats of a Red Sox hitter, I will keep this short and sweet. But then, I may just foul off a few pitches, lay off a tough pitch just outside the zone,…
Another Visit to Gould Hill Farm
We made our annual trip to Gould Hill Farm in Contoocook, NH to pick apples. And, as always it was a lot of fun. The day was gorgeous and the scenes, in and around the…
The Twins Go To School
Today was another day to remember. The twins, at three-and-a-half years old, went to their first day of school. Well, pre-pre-school, as I call it. Either way, there were pictures, good-byes, anticipations, uncertainties, and excitement.…

The heron, an eagle, loons, and me
It was the middle of the day when I climbed in.Β A two seat canoe, a paddle, and me, I did begin. Β The water was calm and close to crystal clear.Β Moving through water,…
Can’t wait to get back
We have only been home for 2 1/2 days and I can’t wait to get back up to the Down East. Lord willing, we hope to return for a fourth consecutive year in August 2014.…
Beals Island 2013
On our, now annual, vacation to Down East Maine we trekked up to Beals Island. I love this little fishing village where my ancestors came from. The population was down to 508 people as of…
I like my hot dogs well done
I asked Theodore if he had slipped into the kitchen and eaten one of the hot dogs from my plate. He answered with a question, “Daddy share your hot dogs?” I said that I did.…
Good eating
Yesterday my three year old daughter and I were sharing some leftovers for lunch. Jacqueline was enjoying some bites of the pasta and was cordial enough to say, “Thanks for sharing your food Dad.” This…
3 Days in Pittsburg

Jacqueline: “I …
Jacqueline: “I want to go to the store and get some Mini Oreo’s.” Theodore: “Well, I want Mickey Oreo’s.” Jacqueline: “Once upon a time, I want to go to the store and get Mini Oreo’s,…
Twin quotes
After choosing the coolest day of the last five to actually venture in to the kiddie pool on our deck, the twins were soaked, and cold. Upon getting out of the pool after they were…
Bruins Warrior
I have written on this subject before and it means a great deal to me personally, it is team. This blog I wrote (The Team) a while back probably doesn’t do it justice, but last…
On My Mind
I just glanced at Facebook, and at the moment Facebook seemed to be concerned with “What’s on my mind?” That’s a good question, because, right now, I am thinking of my Uncle Lloyd. Wishing I…
Playing like nobody is watching
I love when the twins just get caught up in the things that they are doing. Theodore grabbed the wizard hat for no reason other than to wear it while he played. Jacqueline donned her…
The Hug
The Hug May 20, 2013 Maybe it’s just me, but while I was growing up, I guess I never really gave any thought to the fact that my heroes and I would ever be…
Destination Homestead
Destination Homestead
The highways weren’t what they are now. The drive times were longer and the family car was crowded. The days were most definitely simpler then. There weren’t electronic games to play, options for isolating ourselves within the car, but games we played involving us all. I knew the make and model of almost every vehicle we saw along the way, we all did.
I sat behind my dad in the car and I tried to take in everything he saw. I learned the landmarks and the places along the way where we stopped or where some historical thing had happened. We brought our own water and food. Fast food was a homemade sandwich that mom pulled from her bag of prepared trip fare.
Goffstown In Baseball
Goffstown, NH was incorporated in 1761. Goffstown ranks as just the 14th largest municipality in the state of New Hampshire. The 2010 Census put Goffstown’s population at 17,651. Roughly 15% of the population is between age 18 and age 24, or approximately 2,648 people. I am going to point out some more details from this age group a little later on in this piece. There are roughly 4,000 folks in Goffstown that are under the age of 18, in this group, nearly 10% of this group play baseball in the Goffstown Jr. Baseball organization. I point these numbers out because I find these things interesting enough to share.
Goffstown is a small town. There are 202 municipalities in New England that are larger than Goffstown. For this piece I refer to Goffstown baseball based on the towns the school district pulls from. Goffstown, New Boston (2010 census pop. 5,321), and Dunbarton (2010 census pop. 2,758) make up the school district. I will also point out which town the individuals mentioned in this piece hail from.
