November 3: @ Flames 2 Raiders 3
Close call assists Raiders to 3-2 win Saturday afternoon the Flames hosted the North Shore Raiders at West Side Arena for a 2:30 pm tilt. The Flames played well for extended periods of time, but lost 3-2, giving up goals when their play broke down. In the first period the play was fairly even, with maybe, a small edge going to the Raiders. The Flames did get 9 shots on goal to the 8 shots taken Continue Reading...
November 4: Flames 3 @ Bulldogs 2
Manchester falls behind early only to come back with 3-2 win Whew! What a spirited hockey game down at Hallenborg Arena in Billerica, MA tonight. The Flames, playing their second road game of the day, and down three regular players, could have mailed this one in and let the pieces fall where they may. Unless, of course, this team is made up of competitors, who play for each other, get each Continue Reading...
November 11: Flames 7 @ Stars 3
Slow start, down 2-0; Strong finish, 7-3 win The Flames quickly found themselves behind 2-0 just 7 minutes into the game. This may have been the result of back-to-back early morning (8am scrimmage yesterday) games, or maybe the team’s attendance at MRYHA Night at the Verizon Wireless Arena last night. Either way, the Stars led 2-0 early, and were carrying the play. As the period wore on, the Continue Reading...

After all the momentum hockey has seen in recent years, with HD TV, original six teams winning Cups, TV contracts, and young stars emerging, they shoot themselves in the foot...again. Three work stoppages under one regime? For all the Continue Reading...

Raise the banner
The Boston Bruins raised their Stanley Cup Championship banner to the rafters last night. I enjoyed the ceremony. These things tend to get dragged out a bit, maybe too long, but I liked last night's event. It was really nice for the home town crowd to see their team with the Cup on the Garden ice. It was great to have Mark Recchi there as well, such an integral part of last year's championship Continue Reading...
