I am thankful for friends. Friends, near and far, I am thankful for all. And, from a blog post I did a few months ago, My Friends, My Cousins, "Beginning with trips, visits, and times before they ever registered with my conscious memory, I had many friends. These friends weren’t from my neighborhood or from our church, and I wasn’t even old enough to be in school yet. Nevertheless, I had friends. Continue Reading...
Thanks #18 (Health)
I am thankful for my health. My health may not be the best, but it certainly isn't the worst. There are a lot of people who have to deal with so many health related issues just to live through another day, and my prayers are with them. I'm fortunate, and I'm thankful for my health. Continue Reading...
Thanks #17 (Freedom)
I am thankful for freedom. This is New Hampshire, the state motto is, "Live Free or Die." Taking the motto a step further, it was originally written as, "Live Free Or Die; Death Is Not The Worst of Evils." I don't know about the rest of New Hampshire, but I take freedom pretty seriously. Freedom, meaning by one definition, "The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance Continue Reading...
Thanks #16 (Shelter)
I am thankful for shelter. Psalm 62:8 - Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. God is my shelter. I am thankful for the shelter provided by simply bowing my head, shutting out the world around me, for even just a moment, to have a word with Him. I am thankful for the shelter of this roof and these four walls. I can be protected from the Continue Reading...
Thanks #15 (Second Chances)
I'm thankful for second chances. God has spared me. He has watched over me when I wouldn't even look after myself. Thank you Lord. Second chances are ours to give, but they are not ours to command, or demand. Everyone's timeline is different. Everyone has their own issues to sort through. Everyone has to take inventory of themselves to understand where they stand on the matters of the heart. Continue Reading...
Thanks #14 (Seasons)
I'm thankful for the seasons. There are definitely four distinctive seasons here in southern NH. There is clearly a spring season when the snow and ice melts and growth gets a slow start. The winds still howl, but now there are wisps of warmth mixed in to the winds that dry the soggy, thawing ground. Summer comes as all things growing flourish and greens abound. Sight lines change as the leaves of Continue Reading...
Thanks #13 (Lessons)
I'm thankful for the lessons in life. I've had many, some more than once, and I'm sure there are more to come. Sometimes when I sit and think, I am reminded just how important lessons are. Imagine life having not learned lessons. No thanks, I'd rather not. Some lessons are more difficult than others to learn. I just hope I've learned well, can keep from making the same mistakes again, and maybe Continue Reading...
Thanks #12 (Weather)
I'm thankful for weather. I know it changes often and it even causes changes to plans. I know it causes damage and can, at times, be harmful. For me, it's the cold breeze that catches me off guard with a sudden shiver, letting me know I'm very much alive. Or the refreshing clean slate that a fresh blanket of pure white snow can provide, hiding the unclean and the imperfect. Maybe it's the softest Continue Reading...
Thanks #11 (Veteran’s)
I'm thankful for our veteran's. I wrote this last year. I still feel the same way, very thankful for our veteran's. The freedoms we share, the liberties we lose perspective of that are privilege to others, the choices we have, we owe, in large part to our veteran's. REMEMBER Remember more often, remember with others aloudRemember more than today, remember they should feel proud Remember to thank Continue Reading...
Thanks #10 (Sunshine)
I'm thankful for sunshine, aside from the obvious and scientific reasons why the sun is important to our existence. I think each of us, at one point or another, thinks that the sun shines just on us for moments here and there. I am thankful for those moments. There are so many of them. Like stepping from the cold shade of winter to catch a few rays of warmth while it lasts. Or the first rays of Continue Reading...
