The Manchester Flames Pee Wee Majors traveled to Ottawa, Ontario to compete in the 9th Annual Capital Winter Classic Tournament, and this morning they played their opening game. Walking into the complex this morning, we sought the unfamiliar relief of the cold rink as a place of warmth to get away from the wind chills of 10 and 20 degrees below zero. Feeling frozen, maybe a little bit, the Flames Continue Reading...

MLK 1 – January 18: Flames 6 vs. Conquistadors 01 0
Friday morning, yes on a school day morning, when kids get a chance to feel like they’re getting away with something by missing school, and playing some hockey, the Flames came ready to play. The Flames got to be the home team in their first game of the 2nd Annual MLK Tournament, hosting the Conquistadors 01 team from the South Shore. December 30: @ Flames 2 vs. NH East 1
Sunday afternoon the Flames returned to home ice, hosting the 1st place (GSL) NH East Eagles. This NH East club has proven over the years to be well coached and very stingy on the defensive end of the ice. In early November they shut out the Flames 3-0, allowing just 12 shots in the game. In GSL play, the Eagles had allowed just 14 goals in 10 games played. And so it was entering play on Sunday. Continue Reading...
December 29: @ Flames 2 vs. Shamrocks 1
Saturday the Flames started their final weekend of the year 2012 with the first of back-to-back home games. They hosted the Shamrocks at West Side Arena. These are the same Shamrocks that beat the Flames 2-1 back on the 1st of the month. A big team with some skill, some size, and some big shots that was able to create quite a bit of open space for themselves the first time they met. The Flames Continue Reading...
December 15: Flames 3 @ 495 Stars White 2
In the second of two games on Saturday the 15th, the Flames battled through and around heavy traffic in the vicinity of the Pheasant Lane Mall which was packed and overflowing with Christmas shoppers. Then, for the second time on Saturday, the Flames put up a good effort, and this time, left Tyngsboro with a 3-2 win. The win improved the Flames record to 10-5 in Mass Select play, tying them with Continue Reading...
December 15: Flames 2 @ NH Avalanche III 3
Saturday, December 15, 2012 saw the Manchester Flames Pee Wee Major team hit the road for a pair of road games. The first game was just a few minutes up the road, at the Ice Den for a contest with a familiar foe, the NH Avalanche Pee Wee 3 team. The teams had split the decisions in two previous meetings this season. From my visitor’s seat near center ice, I watched the game on Saturday afternoon, Continue Reading...
December 9: @ Flames 3 vs. Keene 1
The Pee Wee Major Flames had a chance to rebound from a loss yesterday with a home game this afternoon. The Flames hosted a Granite State League game vs. Keene (0-4-1), looking to even their record in GSL play. The Flames came in to the game with a 4-5-1 record in the GSL overall, but have gone 3-0-1 in their last four league games. The Flames did rebound well, they earned a 3-1 victory versus a Continue Reading...
December 8: @ Flames 1 vs. Bulldogs 5
Saturday afternoon the Flames returned to home ice for a game against the Bulldogs. These two teams have played each other several times already this season. Each of the games thus far has been intensely contested, pretty evenly matched, and been a close game. Today things changed a little bit, at least as it relates to how these games have been going. The Flames lost 5-1 and just didn't have the Continue Reading...
