The Flames had an early morning game at Phillips Exeter Academy on Saturday against NH East. The Flames ended up with an 8-4 victory against a good, and very feisty team. But honestly, maybe the best part of the game was the visiting Flames versus the boards along the team benches (no doors). The boards were a decisive winner.
Manchester plays Concord tomorrow morning at Tilton School. Enjoy a few pictures from Saturday.

In an epic coaching move, the coaches warmed up with a game of catch in order to be ready for assisting players over the boards.
- Travis went into hiding to avoid my constant heckling. I feel it’s building character.
- See here, this shot is just wide. But my agent says “If it’s close, make a save! I mean anything close, make the save!”
- Travis getting ready to defend his net. Luke, “Hey Trav! What’s going on?”
- It’s blurry, but it’s still a save.
- Now matter where I am, I love this flag.
- Finley looks for someone to pass the puck to.
- Austin works the puck toward the front of the net.
- Logan takes aim and James lines him up, “Left! Left! Logan a little left!
- Teddy breaks in behind the defense with a rush toward the net.
- Teddy takes a look on where he might want to shoot, or he’s thinking, “Hey Dad, look at this pose! Take my picture!”
- Austin leads the Flames up the ice.
- Colby works the puck up the left wing boards against NH East.
- Finley looks things over as Colby lets a shot fly at NH East.
- This time Finley gets a puck on net with a quick shot.
- I missed the beginning of this race but apparently it had something to do with finishing by sliding headfirst.
- Teddy tucked this one into the net and Gavin was right there for support.
- James wonders, “Hey guys where have you been? Get back here and help me out!”
- Garrett works along the boards right up close.
- Logan gets free and buries this shot for the Flames.
- I don’t know who put this but the Flames scored and both sides were overjoyed!
- Logan and Garrett skate behind the net during the ‘shadow your teammate’ portion of the morning events.
- I watched this sequence closely through my lens. Jax was full on hustling back and then heard the whistle for icing on NH East. He was pleased I think.
- Coach Nick gives a motivational speech in between periods. In the meantime, Ian gazes into the distance wondering, “Does anyone else notice how long my right leg is right now? Must be the boards.”
- Ian carries the puck up the ice for the Flames in an 8-4 win at Phillips Exeter.
- Drew follows through on a shot at NH East.
- NH East parents set up a very strong ‘human magnet’ along the boards in the 3rd period as part of an experiment. I don’t know what they were shooting for but these kids couldn’t get off of the boards.
- Teddy says to Jax, “Hey hold on! Do that again. I wasn’t watching. Gotcha! I was watching.”
