While this site is full of words and numbers, there are not a lot of posts in the Music category compared to others. Yet, I would say that 75% of the words and numbers on this website have been gathered while I was listening to music.
Have you ever felt that overwhelming love for a newborn or a helpless animal? That feeling isn’t just an emotion. It’s a direct echo of the very same fierce love that fueled the resurrection. Discover the “hard line” connecting the beauty you see to the power that rolled away the stone.
As a pastor’s kid, the hymn ‘I Have Decided to Follow Jesus’ was just a childhood memory. That is, until I heard Anthony Evans sing it. His version was a tribute to his late mother, and in that moment, God connected our stories. He was honoring his mother with a song, and I was honoring my father with a book. One son’s privilege, another son’s reward. This is the God who weaves our stories of loss into a shared song of purpose.
Peace is not a feeling. It’s a declaration. Discover the unshakable truth that allowed Horatio Spafford to write ‘It Is Well’ in the midst of unimaginable tragedy, and how the resurrection is the only anchor for the soul in any storm. This peace, a gift from God, is the only peace that could allow a man to lose his four daughters at sea and still write, ‘It Is Well’.
What happens when sorrow and love become a tsunami? A look at the cross that isn’t gentle, but a Spirit-injected jumper cable that obliterates our ego and demands our soul, our life, our all.
The cross demands two responses: to bow in reverence and to cling for life. Exploring the profound meaning of ‘Tetelestai’ – the debt paid, the sentence served, and the victory won. Discover why the Old Rugged Cross must remain central to our daily walk.
Setup: My youngest sister texted me a playlist link on Easter Sunday while we were at our childhood home visiting Mom and family. She briefly explained the list and some details on the arrangements. I…
Two weeks ago I wrote a piece on TSO that started the way you see in the following paragraph. Today I try to put into words, coming Back to Peace, as it relates to my two-plus decade relationship with the band, their music, and their fans.
Recently, I was asked by a number of people, if I would be writing anything about seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) again this year. The odd thing is that while I was sitting in the balcony watching the show, I was thinking that it was time to write about and share more of my TSO experience.

14 Songs of Christmas – (2) Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
December 1999. I hear a Christmas song like no other on WAAF, 107.3 out of Boston. I call the station to find out what the song was and who played it. It’s Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and the song is Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24. I have been hooked ever since.
14 Songs of Christmas – (13) Whoville Medley – Perfect Christmas Night / Grinch.
On the 13th day of Christmas Songs, I thought I would have a little fun. The Whoville Medley isn’t all that long but it’s a fun song from my favorite band.
The Ghosts of Christmas Eve, Best Of TSO And More 2017
Oh my, where do I start? I guess I start with recognizing the fact that it has been several months since the last time that I really sat down to write something, to create, to formulate frames, thoughts, and ideas through the use of words.
Then I suppose I should include the fact that I went to see The Ghosts of Christmas Eve, The Best of TSO and More Tour 2017on Saturday, November 25th in Manchester, NH. As often happens with me when I listen to these folks, even while I was sitting there at the venue, watching both the afternoon and evening shows, I had words, ideas, lyrics, and emotions I wanted to capture, all swirling in my head.
Some of you know that I have been going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform in concert for 17 consecutive years now. It has truly become a staple in my Christmas season every year.
What was once just down the hall, now requires a plan, accounting for all. The sweet, trusted security only separated by a flight of stairs, is somewhere in the past, or at least not so easily found, or fast. The supported now strain to support, and one longs for it all, again to be the other way around.
I went to see them for the first time in December 2000. I went to hear one song. 16 years later, and every year between, I have seen them, listened to all of their songs,…
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in…
This year, I was fortunate enough to get to the Boston show too. I haven’t even looked at those photos yet. Every time I go back to these pictures from Manchester, I just can’t wait to see these folks again, and to get lost in each and every spectacular moment found in each show.
I heard that today is Chris Caffery Friday. It just so happens that I have a few photos of Chris from this year’s show. Here are a few pictures of Chris from theΒ Manchester, NH show…
Here are 10 more photos from the Manchester, NH show on November 28th.
If you know me, you know that TSO, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has become synonymous with my Christmas season over the years. Maybe you have read one, several, or even, all, of the posts I have shared here regarding TSO over the last 4+ years. There have been many. Maybe this is the first time you’ve seen anything from here. Either way, the group and I go way back; more than 16 years back.
For the first time in 16 years of seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert, I actually took a lot of pictures at the show this year. I usually take some pictures, but not too many. Maybe…
