After waltzing into the winter wonderland called Jay Peak yesterday afternoon and evening, the 2010 Flames were ready to open the tournament this morning. The Flames played a very good team from Wilbraham / Twin Meadows, Massachusetts.
If you don’t know where that is, it’s between Springfield and Tree House beginnings. Either way, their team is very good. The WTM team skated to an 8-0 victory at the Ice Haus Indoor Arena. The Flames still have 3 more games this weekend and a team dinner as well.
Please feel free to enjoy some pictures from game one.
Last night the snow was falling and the scene was quite beautiful in a wintry way.

Travis made somewhere around 200 saves in this game, but my abacus is out of date so that number might be low.
One of this weekend’s captains, Theodore.
Once in awhile one slips past.
Finley, aka “The Mighty Fin”, also a captain this weekend.

Because it takes a lot of people to find a puck in a goalie’s gear.
I love when a kid smiles for a picture in the heat of battle, oh ya, and some defense. (zoom in)
Because I want a good review of our knee hockey room and fireside snow gear drying station on Yelp, I added another picture of The Mighty Fin.
Baby it’s cold outside…It’s up to your knees out there.
Then the players absolutely killed it during the lurching, marching, and sliding portion of the program. It was special.
Long distance face-off photo as required by the rink.
Unfortunately, Coach Tim had the only assist for the Flames this morning, and it was a beauty!
Travis says, “I got it from here”.
This goal came when the rest of the Flames took a 30 second timeout without telling anyone else. 2010 Flames drop opener at Jay Peak.
Bringing back hockey cheer-leading in northern Vermont.
Playing defense and the old yo-yo puck trick.
Threading the needle with a pass between defenders.
Theodore loves his door sign. Thank you LK.
Oh, and yes, it’s still snowing up here (4 hours later).
