2010 Flames Start Slow and Finish Strong at JFK

With the skies opened and dumping downpours of rain, there was no team warm-up outside before this morning’s game. It was an 8:20am ice time too, which can be tough to rise for on a dark, gray, weekend morning. That, and the fact that every week seems to be longer than the week prior over the last year, seemed to contribute to a sluggish start.

As the game went along, both teams got their legs going a little bit at a time. For the Flames that meant better scoring chances and a better success rate of putting the puck in the net. After a scoreless first period, the Flames led 4-1 after two periods, and scored another 3 goals in the final period. In the end, the Flames skated off into the rain and wind with a 7-1 victory. They will return to the ice tomorrow in Concord for a game against a very good Concord team.

As for now, the rain has stopped and the clouds even parted some. Enjoy some pictures from this morning’s action between a bunch of kids playing a game they all love. It’s all about the kids.

Literally, the goal. This is the target for year after year of hockey.

Lots of open square footage, and a few options, but things don’t always go the way we want them to.

Jordan leads the hustle back to a loose puck. Keep those legs moving.

Take Your Best Shots

Teddy runs down a loose puck and draws a tripping penalty before sliding a shot on goal.
