Winter Workout
The other day I was out in the Kuncanowet Forest again. I can’t seem to get enough of those trails through the woods. It’s beautiful country for sure. Despite the incredibly warm weather we have…
I am just a man. I am a father, a son, and a husband. I am a homemaker, caretaker, coach, writer, speaker, and photographer. I love God. I love my family. I love my country. God has blessed my family and I, and I am eternally grateful. Author of Generation Jumping: Losing those who are not lost. Downtime with my family is about as good as it gets for me. Being outdoors in nature, among the animals and the wilderness, the Created, comes pretty close. Baseball, followed by hockey, are my two favorite sports, with several others a close third. I would rather do it right the first time. Honesty, respect, and integrity are virtues that I hold dear, so I call it like I see it. Before we as a society attempt to re-define these words, I will be here telling the raw truth.

After all was said and done, the Bow Falcons improved to 10-1-1 on the season. Goffstown dropped to 5-5. According to records, streaks, common opponents, etc. Bow was supposed to win this game. Ultimately the young, talented team from Bow did win, but this was a battle from the opening faceoff.
The Goffstown Hockey team does one major fundraiser each season, and that time is almost here. The Fundraiser is being held at the Alpine Club (175 Putnam Street) on February 5th beginning at 800pm. (Doors open at 630pm)
Go to some quiet place, exhale, bow in reverence, and just pray.
List every little thing you are thankful for if you need words to say.
I gave benefits despite the doubt, everything was all I tried.
It was the answer missing that dropped me to the floor, I cried.
Pains ran in every direction from my heart, it hurt in every limb
How was it that the known wasn’t a better choice than the him
Now, the animals make the only tracks around this place, and the water still flows where it’s supposed to as far as the mill would be concerned.
Sunday, January 24, 2016. 330pm @ Sullivan Arena, St. Anselm College, Goffstown, NH – Belmont-Gilford @ Goffstown. Today reminded me of something from a quarter-century or so ago. I remember going to the old Boston Garden,…
I went to see them for the first time in December 2000. I went to hear one song. 16 years later, and every year between, I have seen them, listened to all of their songs,…
I started this post back in October (2015) and I have posted several pictures from this trail in a slide show, but I wanted to single out some of those photos even more, so I…
The twins and I had a little bit of down time after school. We all stayed close together though.
As I get into the game itself, I will say that this Windham team is a good team. They appear to be well coached. They skate well as a team. They move the puck quickly, especially in the offensive end.
The play told a too familiar story for Grizzlie fans though, as either of two Goffstown defensemen could have raced behind the net and been the first player to the loose puck, but instead, neither one went, and Oyster River centered the puck to the slot and scored, or didn’t score, officially.
Saturday, January 16, 2016. 5pm @ Keene Ice, Keene, NH – Goffstown @ Keene. The Goffstown Grizzlies came to Keene after a week of practices, playing their first game since blowing out Timberlane last Saturday. As of late,…
Saturday, January 9, 2016. 730pm @ Sullivan Arena, St. Anselm College, Goffstown, NH – Timberlane @ Goffstown. The Goffstown Grizzlies seemed a bit anxious to get out on the ice and play another hockey game after a…
I walked in the woods. I walked on crusted snow. There were no other foot steps. There was no trail. I followed some animal tracks, but mostly just the lay of the land. The crusted snow was slick in spots but I thought of how much more difficult this walk would be in the summer months of growth.
Goffstown definitely took more chances to make plays in the third period, and they would end up getting 13 shots on goal in the final stanza.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in…
Honestly, this roster will be better for having competed in the Bauer Hockey Christmas Classic. They gave Hanover all they could handle for 41 minutes before the Marauders broke through. They are capable. They are learning. The youngsters now have 9 games under their belt, including scrimmages, and I look forward to watching this team develop in 2016. The youngsters from Stephen Provencher to the veterans in Holt, Roy, and Greenwood will keep working. They’ll keep bonding. They’ll continue to develop and there will be wonderful moments on and off of the ice for the next couple of months.
Goffstown versus Bedford, always draws a little more attention. The neighboring towns have established quite the rivalry through athletic contests over the years. Well, today the hockey rivalry was renewed. Bedford is considered by most to be one of the top teams in Division I NH Hockey, and to start the season, they have done nothing but cement that notion, winning all three games they have played thus far. Goffstown on the other hand, well, they aren’t making anybody’s list of anything worth listing this year in Division II. Lists are also made to be re-written. Goffstown knew they were playing one of New Hampshire’s top teams.
Bauer Hockey christmas classic Saturday, December 26, 2015. 6pm @ JFK Coliseum, Manchester, NH- Goffstown came to JFK Coliseum after a 9-1 drubbing of Pembroke-Campbell on Wednesday night. Of course, everyone was coming off…
Before the game started, the voice of the Division I State Champion Football team, Al Potvin, announced that proceeds from the gate and the 50/50 raffle were being donated to a trust fund that helps the Carlson family pay for medical bills. So, after the ceremonial puck drop with two-time cancer survivor (and still battling), Maddie Carlson, it was time for some hockey.
This year, I was fortunate enough to get to the Boston show too. I haven’t even looked at those photos yet. Every time I go back to these pictures from Manchester, I just can’t wait to see these folks again, and to get lost in each and every spectacular moment found in each show.
Somersworth came into the game at 1-0, after beating Oyster River 3-2 in their home opener. As the teams lined up and the National Anthem was sung, the beauty of not knowing what was going to happen next was in play.
The varsity hockey team from Goffstown High School opened their season on the road, in someone else’s building. But, you must start somewhere. As the teams skated to warmup in the pregame skate, it was obvious that things come a little harder when the schedule flips and the games start to count. The student body from Winnacunnet pressed, in numbers, against the glass directly behind Goffstown’s goaltender, Colin Holt and wanted to make their presence felt. Let the games begin.
St. Anselm College, Sullivan Arena, Goffstown, NH (12/12/15)- As you might guess here in New Hampshire, approaching mid-December, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the lawns are all green, and the temperatures climbed…
St. Anselm College, Sullivan Arena, Goffstown, NH (12/9/15)- Let me start by saying that I did not get a game sheet from the game last night so I may miss some details and certainly I will…
St. Anselm College, Sullivan Arena, Goffstown, NH – I suppose it must start somewhere, and as far as ‘keeping track’ goes, the 2015-16 Varsity Ice Hockey Season started tonight for Goffstown High School with a scrimmage…
This morning though, I remember my Aunt Janette. Below, I have shared a poem that I wrote in honor of my aunt. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. I was fortunate enough to have a relationship with her right from the time I was born. Last night when I looked at my calendar, and I let the date register with me, I stopped and I thought about my wonderful aunt. She is still very much missed and I cannot wait to see her again, one day, in heaven. This morning, I remember her, and I share this poem I wrote a few years ago.
I heard that today is Chris Caffery Friday. It just so happens that I have a few photos of Chris from this year’s show. Here are a few pictures of Chris from the Manchester, NH show…
Here are 10 more photos from the Manchester, NH show on November 28th.
If you know me, you know that TSO, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has become synonymous with my Christmas season over the years. Maybe you have read one, several, or even, all, of the posts I have shared here regarding TSO over the last 4+ years. There have been many. Maybe this is the first time you’ve seen anything from here. Either way, the group and I go way back; more than 16 years back.
For the first time in 16 years of seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert, I actually took a lot of pictures at the show this year. I usually take some pictures, but not too many. Maybe…
