Steve Beal Sr.

I am just a man. I am a father, a son, and a husband. I am a homemaker, caretaker, coach, writer, speaker, and photographer. I love God. I love my family. I love my country. God has blessed my family and I, and I am eternally grateful. Author of Generation Jumping: Losing those who are not lost. Downtime with my family is about as good as it gets for me. Being outdoors in nature, among the animals and the wilderness, the Created, comes pretty close. Baseball, followed by hockey, are my two favorite sports, with several others a close third. I would rather do it right the first time. Honesty, respect, and integrity are virtues that I hold dear, so I call it like I see it. Before we as a society attempt to re-define these words, I will be here telling the raw truth.

Thinking of our military this Christmas

Just about any time I think about our military personnel, past and present, when I really think of all they do, all they sacrifice, I cry. I am especially emotional on this subject at Christmas…

Not much, but it’s white for now

Finally, for the first time since October, yes October, the ground is white here. At least for the moment anyway. I know many people are hoping for a white Christmas around here. I am not…

Sunday Series – Christmas Edition – Silent Night

‘Tis the Season … to observe and share

Over the last week or two I have observed some interesting things involving people all around me. Keep in mind, it’s Christmas time, and people are supposed to be at their best, right? I know…

44

What do you think of when you see or hear the number 44? I know the first thing that comes to my mind is Henry Aaron. I think of Willie McCovey and Reggie Jackson, and…

148 hours until Christmas!

It’s Sunday night, December 18th. We are less than a week from Christmas. Roughly 148 hours until December 25th starts. Is that enough time to get everything done that you need to get done? Is…

This might be why couch pillows go flat

I am not sure I have enough proof here, but here goes. Aside from watching this little tale unfold with my own two eyes, I think the pictures tell the story. I find it interesting…

Everyday priorities

Recently, my youngest brother’s father-in-law passed away. Or my sister-in-law’s father passed away. Either way, it’s been a major and sudden impact on their family. I don’t want to know what the feeling of suddenly…

Moose – My Favorite

Bull close up
Bull moose in Errol, NH

Over the last few weeks I have been thinking about theΒ North CountryΒ ofΒ New HampshireΒ and MaineΒ while missing the hundreds of hours I have spent with my favorite animals, Moose. These are just a few of the hundreds of moose pictures I have taken over the years. The majority were taken with my 35mm camera so I have the prints and negatives and not nearly as many on my digital camera.

Twin Adventures- Swinging at Grammy’s house

Today we went to my mom and dad’s house for our weekly visit. The sun was shining and temperatures were in the low 40’s. The grass is still green and the trees don’t look as…

13 Days to Christmas, Where’s your Christmas Spirit?

We are just 13 days from Christmas and here in New Hampshire the sun is shining, the grass glistens as the frost covered blades reflect the low morning sun. The temperature outside was 20 degrees…

Coloring on the floor

Theodore gets a moment to himself and enjoys some coloring. Or scribbling is really more like it. Either way, he was on his own, on the floor, lying on his belly, and free to kick…

The BoSox and the B’s

I know there’s a lifetime of hockey yet to play this season, or so it would seem. So I tread lightly here as I write on this subject. I have thought on this often and…

Just a little moment

It was just a little moment. Maybe it lasted for a minute or two. The twins on their tip-toes, stretchingΒ instinctivelyΒ to get the highest vantage point possible. Who teaches them that? They both knew that as…

Frasier Fir Christmas Tree

I just brought our 9 foot Frasier Fir Christmas tree into the house this evening. I think it’s a beautiful tree, and once it falls, I think it will even look better. I can tell…

Joy in the simple things

Most mornings at our house consist of the twins and I hanging out in the family room. There are plenty of toys to play with, books to read through, snacks nearby for dad to prepare,…

Sunday Series – Where’s the line?

Once again I received a simple email from my mother and it prompted a post to my blog. It seems that emails from mom have this tendency. I love it mom, don’t stop sending them…

Old Toy Trains

This post is for my brother Pete. It’s about a simple, short song and it is one of my Christmas favorites. Old Toy Trains as sung by Roger Miller. When I hear this song it…

The twins are 19 months old!

On November 20th the twins reached the 19 month old mark. I know parents use months as the measurement for age until kids are roughly 2 years old, but it just seems to work that…

The snow is falling

Here in the Northeast we have just come through one of the milder months ofΒ November thatΒ any of us can remember. As we start December it’s still not feeling like winter yet. We are just over…

Another twin visit with Grammy and Grampy

I took the twins to see my parents again today. We had no agenda and nothing to accomplish. We just spent time together. As it should be. The twins love to see Grampy and Grammy…

Who found who

So, the Boston Red Sox, supposedly one of the model organizations in all of baseball, are naming who as their new manager? Bobby Valentine? Wow. I don’t know if this is a good move or…

A time not so long ago

My mom sent me an email recently that contained the quotes I have shared below. I am sure we all have seen something like this go around on email over the years. I read through…

Happy Thanksgiving in my words

Fortunate dad

Today capped a 36 hour blitz of a couple of Division I schools who are interested in having Ryan transfer to their school next fall. Ryan, my 18-year-old son, is a freshman catcher at Ohlone…
