Camping Adventure 2018 D3

Day three. White Mountains National Forest. Hastings Campground.

After a night of heavy rain and a wet morning, we decided to take a ride in the van until the weather system pushed out of the area. We drove over to Turner, Maine to check out Martin Stream Campground, our destination the next day. We checked out our campsite, and we quickly determined that we were going to love it, and thought that Mom would too when she joined us the next day. We headed back to base camp and had lunch there. Then we took a walk through the woods behind our campsite and played in the gorgeous setting of Evans Brook. What a beautiful spot! After playing the water for a while we took a short 2-minute ride over to the bridge that spans the Wild River. We played in the Wild River for the rest of the afternoon, as the kids and I loved every moment. We came back to camp and had dinner before the kids rode their bikes around the loop for at least an hour. As the night sky darkened, we sat at the picnic table and watched the Perseids meteor shower again before going to bed. While falling asleep I heard coyotes calling each other down the valley to the south.

This momma Ruffed Grouse and family were here to either greet us or say goodbye at the entrance of Hastings Campground.
The twins pick a boulder for a picture with the bridge over the Wild River behind them.
This has quickly become one of my favorite twin pictures of all time. At the beautiful Evans Brook.
Rushing water, rounded rocks, and lots of places to play on the Wild River.
Two very tired twin campers enjoying their rest in our tent.
