May 14, 2023 – Mother’s Day – The Chosen Mother’s Day 2023 was approaching and I started to think on the subject a little more intently than I usually do. As strange as this…
May, 2023 – To My Friend, Ben – It was November, 2015 and despite having three older kids that played sports, including varsity sports at Goffstown High School, we had not experienced hockey at GHS…
Thank you Coach Slocum, not just for the 16 years. But for the joys, the celebrations, and maybe even a few tears.
Undaunted by adversity, and what others may deem; you were fair and honest. Years weren’t about you, but rather, the team.
Your teams exceeded predictions and set records, the wins they did amass. But nobody can take away your 16 seasons of exuding class.
The program must carry on, but it, I, will miss you. And this winter when I’m in the booth, I hope you’ll be on a beach, with a view.
I know that you would be the last one to do what I am about to do, but this one, Ben, this one is all about you.
So, spring of ’23 and I roll out some words in this rhyme, a Thank You Coach Slocum, words and numbers one last time.
April 14, 2023: I am missing my Dad. It has been seven years. 7 years not here. Dad, I miss you. But, how could I ever question God’s perfect timing. I know you are in your heavenly home and that thought alone makes me smile.
March 19, 2023 – Here are your NH D2 Hockey All-State Teams for 2023. Congratulations to each person recognized. There are even more folks worthy of such recognition. 2023 NH High School Hockey NH…
The Way There are more than eight-six thousand seconds in each day.Β And many times I only feel mistake free when I’m sleeping seconds away. The Lord Jesus said, βI am the way,…

The good Lord has granted us a gift, itβs another brand new day.
Where will we go, what will we do, the opportunity is ours alone.
Our calendar normally has restricted any chance of us getting away.
But itβs morning, I get to hold you and your arms always feel like home.
I was unable to attend the game on Thursday night, but I got this quote from a very reliable source who was at the game. “6-4, lost to Nashua. 5 unanswered goals. Zero heart. Print that.” I also got this, “Lost, 6-4. Gave up 5 unanswered goals…skated around like they never played before.”
January 28-29, 2023 – 2010 Flames – Saturday the Flames came back from a 2-0 deficit to win, 3-2. Then on Sunday they played a great game, earning a 1-1 tie. The players were great,…
Some weekends look better on the ice than other weekends. These are pre-teen kids and sometimes they play up to competition, sometimes they play down to it. Either way, they give a lot of effort. Perhaps their tireless effort could be stretched much further as their ability to move up and down the ice as a team improves.
Another Saturday, another undefeated opponent for the Grizzlies to play. Goffstown hockey battled back with a better skating game and passing game as the afternoon went on. Eventually, they were able to persevere and come back to even. It looked to me like they still had gas in the tank at the end of overtime too.
On Saturday morning they lost out in Dover, NH, then pitched a shutout win in Wilmington, MA in the evening. On Sunday morning they found a way to win in Vermont, and then won again back in Manchester, NH on Sunday night. But Monday night they saved their best for last with a 3-2 win at West Side Arena.
