Lessons On Ice – Goffstown vs. Alvirne-Milford

Lessons On Ice – January 11, 2025

The Goffstown Grizzlies Hockey team trailed, then came back and led. Then trailed again, came back and led. Then they trailed in the final two minutes and scored to send the game to OT. On a night that turned into a month worth of on ice lessons, the Grizzlies fell in OT. I do believe they will be better for it though.

The 8-team field played games over the three days following Christmas. Concord beat Exeter in the Final. The Grizzlies took 3rd, going 2-1 in the tourney.

Tip and a Prayer – Goffstown at Spaulding OT

-Goffstown Grizzlies Hockey-

Tip and a Prayer – Goffstown at Spaulding – December 21, 2024

Maybe a game against Spaulding would turn out the way it did more often than not. Either team could win it. Goffstown generated more Grade A chances than I saw in all twelve years of my schooling. Meanwhile, Collin McIntyre brought his A+ game. Eventually something had to give. A tip and a prayer, led to an OT game-winner. What a game!

25 Years – Goffstown vs. Portsmouth-Newmarket

25 Years – Goffstown vs. Portsmouth-Newmarket – December 17, 2024

Silver Anniversary Night was a special night for the Goffstown Grizzlies Hockey program. It was the first home game of the season, the 25th season in the program’s history. A lot of friendly faces came out to the ice rink on Tuesday night. And without those people, and several more, who knows when the Goffstown hockey program would have started.

One Day All Together – 2010 Flames – 2023-2024

March 17, 2024 – One Day All Together – 2010 Flames – 2023-2024

Imagine a day when the entire team is in uniform together to make their final stand as the family that they have become. Then, for one day all together they unite, perhaps like never before. Banded together, as only a family can, they appear as one mass of skating, skill, and effort. They beat, shift after shift, as one heart, and literally produce actuality beyond expectation.

What The Future Holds – Goffstown Hockey

– #7 Goffstown at #2 Oyster River – Whittemore Center – UNH –

The Goffstown hockey team showed up in Durham, NH for an 830 am QuarterFinal game against Oyster River on Saturday morning. They played. They lost. The Bobcats scored a pair of power play goals and netted a shorthanded empty netter at the end of their 4-2 win. But all I could think about is what the future holds.

Looking Back – Goffstown Hockey

Relive the excitement of Senior Day! Discover highlights from an action packed Senior Day for the Goffstown Grizzlies’ 7-1 victory.

– Goffstown vs. Timberlane – Sullivan Arena – St. Anselm College –

It was Senior Day, and everyone did some looking back over the last four years. It was the last day of the regular season. Goffstown hockey celebrated their seniors and then a 7-1 win to finish the regular season with a 9-7-2 record. While we were looking back it was hard not to look to the future as well.

One Line – Goffstown Hockey

– Goffstown at Nashua North-Souhegan – Conway Arena – Nashua, NH –

While the state of Massachusetts was migrating up Route 3 to NH for their school vacation week, the Goffstown hockey team made another trip to Nashua’s Conway Arena. This time they played an afternoon game against the Saber-Titans. The home team won it, 2-1 in OT.

Flutie And 83 Saves – Goffstown Hockey

– Flutie And 83 Saves – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown vs. Alvirne-Milford – Sullivan Arena – St. Anselm College –

It was a very special night and not because of Valentine’s Day, or even because of the play on the ice. It was the Goffstown Hockey 2nd Annual Charity Game. The Grizzlies, the Admirals, and the Flutie Foundation came together to raise money and autism awareness.

All In Or Out – Goffstown Hockey

– All In Or Out – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown vs. Merrimack – Tri-Town Arena – Hooksett, NH –

Nobody expected this to be a close game, or even a competitive game, perhaps. Goffstown gave their best team effort of the season, and came up one goal short in a 2-1 loss to Merrimack on Monday night. It was a highly skilled display of high school hockey. And the Grizzlies, reminded me at least, that there is a huge difference between being all in or out.

Out Of Sync – Goffstown Hockey

– Out Of Sync  – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown at Mon-Fall Mountain-ConVal – Keene Ice – Keene, NH –

Goffstown went to Keene to play against the Monadnock-Fall Mountain-ConVal Huskies in a MUST win game, against an opponent they should beat with a solid effort. The Goffstown hockey team got the win, 4-1, all while battling through details that seemed just a bit out of sync.

The Kids Come Back – Goffstown Hockey

– The Kids Come Back – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown at Nashua South Pelham – Conway Arena – Nashua, NH –

Nashua South Pelham scored on the power play to take a 1-0 lead. The Goffstown hockey scored the next four goals and willed their way to a very tough road win. Falling back is only maintainable if the fall back is followed by a come back.

Too Easy – Goffstown Hockey

– Too Easy – Goffstown Hockey –

– Dover at Goffstown – Sullivan Arena –

Dover scored a shorthanded goal just 33 seconds into the game. And for me, the theme of the day started. Too easy. Either Dover is that good, or Goffstown just didn’t play up to their talent level. Because, for much of the game, it just looked too easy for the Dover Green Wave. The Grizzlies dropped the decision, 4-3.

Grizzlies Slip Past Spaulding – Goffstown Hockey

– Grizzlies Slip Past Spaulding – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown at Spaulding – Rochester Arena –

The Goffstown hockey team fell behind early out in Rochester to a solid Spaulding team and the prospects of a come from behind win looked more like a fall further behind loss. Then the second and third periods were played. As it unfolded, Grizzlies slip past Spaulding, 4-3.

A Win Is A Win – Goffstown Hockey

– A Win Is A Win – Goffstown Hockey –

– Goffstown vs. Portsmouth-Newmarket – Sullivan Arena –

It was great to be back at Sullivan Arena for hockey. The Goffstown Grizzlies earned a 5-4 victory that left me scrambling to describe the full 45 minutes. I settled on, a win is a win. But it was probably more than that.
