Dover – The Best Team in D-II
Coach Young was at the game on Wednesday night to scout the Goffstown hockey team. Whereas many of the Green Wave players were out in Rochester to chirp the Grizzlies against Spaulding. Obviously, they put a good plan in place. In a word, they dominated the Grizzlies on Saturday night.
No Goals
Unquestionably, these Grizzlies didn’t swim well at all. As a result they were drowned by the Green Wave. It was the third time this season that Goffstown has been shut out.
No Match
Dover led with aggression, fast skating, some questionable hits from various angles, and willed their way to a 2-0 win. Kyle Bennett was brilliant, making 983 saves but it wasn’t quite enough. It couldn’t possibly be enough for an offense that was offensive to the very word itself. Lucas Grigas was peppered all night with boredom. Of course he was brilliant though, making 13 saves.
Perfect Match
The visitors chose the right night to be in Sullivan Arena. Actually, the schedule chose the night, but who’s counting. On account of the Green Wave playing the aggressor, and conversely the Grizzlies didn’t want to hit or be hit, it was no match. Meanwhile a set of stripes were concerned with blowing no whistles (noise complaints), and not falling. Icing certainly was up for debate as to what the word means in hockey. Indeed, we may never know.
Big Boy Hockey
As a result of being the best team in D-II, Dover was able to play big boy hockey against a Grizzlies team that looked more like they were ready for a knee hockey tournament on a weekend sleepover. It did appear that the home team woke up and looked around to see what time it was at some point in the final period. From start to finish, the Grizzlies were outworked, outskated, and looked like they were on a two-second delay.
Silver Lining
On the positive side the night did end. Another key point is that it was just one game. As long as the Grizzlies can learn from this debacle, they will continue to get better. There is a lot of material to learn from.
