Sunday Series: Touching Lives – Don’t Beat Around the Bush

I have held an idea about this kind of thing for many years, but I have not really taken my idea seriously. Until recently. I hope these little inserts reach many people from week to week, and more importantly, effect lives in a positive way. Have a look and a listen. Spend a little bit of time on yourself. You are worth it. Share it. Pay it forward.

God doesn’t just call missionaries or pastors, or even Moses; He calls every one of us. But are we too busy? Are we too distracted to even be in a position to be called, led, or spoken to?

“…It is when we’re most focused on God that he speaks most clearly to us. It is when we are most focused on God that he speaks most clearly to us. You know what I’ve told people all in my ministry. You ought to have a time every day when you open this book. You ought have a time every day, when you shut your iPad down, get off your computer, turn off your cell phone, close your door, open this book, read this book and have time with the Lord because it’s when you’re most focused on God that God speaks most clearly to you…”

“…I said, let me tell you something. God is not the man upstairs. He’s not the big guy in the sky. He is the holy God who created us. He is the holy God who made us. He deserves our reverence. He deserves our ultimate respect…”

People count themselves too intelligent or too cool and in control to think that God can speak to them, but they’ll give themselves credit for having a hunch, or recounting a story that something told them to act this way or react that way. I say, that we are entirely too busy, yet less productive, and most of us don’t want to hear the truth that God wants us to know and be available for. That’s the bottom line. We are too busy cluttering up our days and nights while patting ourselves on the back for whatever we deem as important to portray to others. Mostly while completely missing the mark of integrity, character, sacrifice, and true service to God or anyone else for that matter.

“…God calls all of us to something. God calls all of us to something. God doesn’t just call the Moses of this world, folks. God calls the somebodies. God calls the nobody’s. God calls the everybody’s. Everybody has a calling. Now I know when some of you’re sitting there, thinking right now, you’re thinking, well, now you can preach all you want to, but God would never call me…So let me give you some good news. If you’re sitting here today and you’re one of those people that are saying to yourself right now, I am the most unlikely person in the world God would ever, ever call. You are exactly the person he loves to call. He loves to call the very people that say, oh no, you would never call me… No, your name may not be Moses, but you are Moses. God has a calling for you. It may be teaching school. It may be building houses. It may be driving a truck. It may be developing real estate. It doesn’t matter what it is. If that’s your calling, God’s calling, if you listen…”
“…What I’m trying to tell all of you today is this. Your life is not insignificant. I don’t care if you’re a multi billionaire, you work for minimum wage. It doesn’t matter. Your life is not insignificant. You are a piece of God’s puzzle. You have a part in God’s plan, but God never expects you to carry that plan for him…”

We race around and spend so much time keeping up with the schedule that we created. Often times, we let outside forces dictate our time to the point that it affects our mindset and the decisions we make. So, today, this week at least, sit down and take some time to get yourself into a better space. I am pretty sure that this would help. Check it out. Anyways, if you can binge watch action, drama and other’s heartache that leaves you no better than when you started, so try this out. It will challenge you. This is great! Enjoy.

Don’t Beat Around the Bush with Dr. James Merritt.

Dr. James Merritt has become one of my favorite speakers. He is thorough and gets right to the point of the message that he is delivering.

Here is a bit of information about Dr. Merritt. While this description might be information you may not care to know, I would encourage you to listen to the words of inspiration that he delivers.

James Merritt is the host of Touching Lives and one of the most dynamic, Gospel-centered preachers on air today. Dr. Merritt strives each week to deliver God’s truths in a clear and concise manner. His pure passion is to reach lost people all over the world with the life-changing and life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

His formal education includes an undergraduate degree from Stetson University and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His pastoral service includes pastoral positions with churches in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Georgia. He regularly preaches outside his home church as he is frequently called to preach, lead pastor training courses, and minister directly to people all over the world.
