Eyes of Wonderment
Sometimes the unexpected stops us in our tracks. The previous line of thought is forgotten, and the thrill of wonderment takes over.
2010 Squirts Flames at Canton
The game was a welcomed break from intense, heavy traffic to get past the routes to and from Boston. The result didn’t favor the visiting team from NH.
September Skies
A month of skies from September.
Attack Hawk
This hawk took a dive at one of our chickens today. After the chicken narrowly avoided being scooped up, the hawk flew to the nearest tree and watched the scene.
Weekend in Eastbrook
Since we didn’t get a chance to get up to our favorite place in Maine this summer, we took full advantage of a weekend at Abrams Pond in September.
Late Summer Sunrise
The picture isn’t the best one I have ever taken, and it’s hard to capture the unique back-lit glow that the sun provides. Even so, the setting with the old farm and the clouds being…
My Project Appr-hen-tice
Recently I have been working on a chicken coop/outbuilding here locally. One day while getting the finishing touches done, I was evaluating some potential apprentices to work with me, and this worker showed up.
Monarch Butterfly
I found this little green chrysalis attached to a long outdoor cord that I needed to gather and move. I detached the beautiful green pupa and laid it on our front porch. It wasn’t too many days before we noticed the newly emerged Monarch Butterfly drying its wings. Incredible cycle. (Click on the images to enlarge them)

Field of Honor
I didn’t know about the website or the event. I just knew that this scene grabbed my attention when I drove by it one day. I love our flag. It’s even better when there are a lot of them. I love our veterans. This little field made me stop and look at it again. I have been by there several times since.
From the Creator’s Canvas
From the west, they gather but delay their approach until the right time of day Some see them coming while others notice too late and just try to run away.
Hen in a box
This hen stayed in her nesting box as I worked around the chicken pen and the chicken coop late this afternoon. She had gathered four different colored eggs beneath her, none of which were hers.…

The Sun Sets And All The Land Loves It
What goes up must come down. Sun included.
Open to blue
This wasn’t this morning, but one-morning last week. All had been dark, grey, and misty, with a healthy helping of fog. When in a moment layers of sky peeled back to expose the bright and…
The Sky Rejoices in Color
Luke 24:6-7Β King James Version (KJV)
6Β He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7Β Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Little Princess
They say that a princess is born into royalty. I am not recognized by any state. But I am most definitely a head of state, a state of awe. And I have two amazing daughters,…
Photos from the road
The sky is everchanging. From minute to minute, light changes, colors change, it’s awesome every time.
Landscapes of Southern Illinois
As I drove through different areas or come around a bend on foot, scenes strike me. These are just a couple from the last 24 hours. Click on the pictures.
