Commuting Takes a Toll
This is the second story of this type that I have seen in a week. I am assuming there was an adult driving each vehicle. We are getting smarter folks. My, my, how far we…

Against the Grain
I am here, I just don’t know if you can see me.
Here is where it all begins, but so far, there is no end.
You were here once it seems, but were you, then again.
Maybe it was me, and what I wanted, I had to pretend.
April 14, 2016 – My Dad was taken home by his Lord and Saviour. There are bunches of my words and stories that you can read if you so wish, regarding my Dad’s death found in the following links.
Dad.
I miss him.
May 14, 2016 – We took the twins and their older brothers to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play. It is the 6-year-old twins’ first trip to the old ballpark in Boston.
This little visitor popped by today. The twins and I were happy to take a look at this natural beauty.
Oh Mother our lives have changed so much over this past year. I can’t get through a single day without shedding a tear. Oh Mother, I pray that you will enjoy your special day. We…
In recent weeks, Dad had talked with my Mom about how he could not wait to take (I would drive them) Mom back to Canada again this year. Then, on April 14, 2016, God intervened, and took Dad to his eternal home.
School vacation week is done. Now, it’s back to our mornings together at home. Today we thought of Grampy and shared a hug so we could lift each other up. I love these two, and…
Dad, can we gather round the table one more time and just let loose?
Oh, we’d laugh til tears, you, my siblings, Mom, this boy you called moose.
I look at the hoop and wonder if I’ll ever see that arch ever again.
Dad, you were one the best lefty shooters there has ever been.
You weren’t well, but I never thought this day would come so soon.
Dimly, I thought that maybe when the day came, I’d be somehow immune.
See, me, and my generation, we hope to be measured one day in the same breath as the great people of the generation before us. In that generation the simplicity of life lived was the stunning portrayal choreographed by the depth found in the intricacies of magnificent minds with the perceived time to approach extraordinary. I am just a man, my Dad was a great man, a great man of God. His new place in heaven ensures what should always be, that I’ll look up to him. I do, and I will.
Only one team every year gets to end their season and post-season with a win in any given level of play. That’s very difficult to achieve, and people lose sight of the teams (everyone else) that doesn’t win their final game of the season, or even qualify for post-season play.
Miramichi Beauty A favorite picture of mine. I took this picture in October 2013, one on of my favorite ‘road-trip’ days ever.
A couple of days ago, I went in search of nearby winter weather. I found ice. Everywhere.
I know I’m not the first, nor the last, to have a parent in a nursing home. Still, it’s a first for me. Dad is in a nursing home. Since the surgical procedure to insert…
In short, my Dad is in a nursing home. There’s a litany of health reasons why he is where he is. I share this because it has been tearing me up. Tears stream down my…
Last week I picked a day when it was rainy, windy, and only 45°F outside to take a little hike. I wanted to see how I would do with making myself a little tarp shelter…
I heard it in the voices of the returning families, I saw it in the smiles on the players faces. I felt it being around the rink and witnessing the countless gestures of kindness and support.
In short, Merrimack was prepared, they were sharp, and they were better. Right from go. Their intensity waned not. After all was said and done, the Merrimack Tomahawks advanced to the Semi-Finals with an 8-5 victory over the upset-minded Goffstown Grizzlies.
Prior to the overtime winner scored by Greenwood, there was one name on my tongue, as it related to the one who stole the show; that name is Colin Holt. Senior, Goaltender, Colin Holt, he wears uniform #1 and tonight, he was the #1 defender. Were it not for Holt’s heroics in net, the Grizzlies could have been down 4 or 5 goals after the first period alone.
Wednesday, March 2, 2016. 730pm @ Sullivan Arena, St. Anselm College, Goffstown, NH – Goffstown vs. Windham. It’s Thursday morning, March 3rd, 2016, and I am not certain that I have yet caught my breath from last night’s spectacle…

If you think about the kids themselves and how “big” everything in their lives seems to them in these moments, you’d remember how momentous these occasions are in a timeline that is still being written.
I wasn’t sure she was out there, I wondered whatever I would do. Then into the room, I peered, my heart jumped, for there, I saw you. Years from then, it’s all mine, this…
They had not come closer to winning a game (in score) than a 6-3 loss in their first game of the season, against Timberlane. Last night though, the team from HBD played well enough to make things difficult for the visiting Grizzlies from Goffstown.
What was once just down the hall, now requires a plan, accounting for all. The sweet, trusted security only separated by a flight of stairs, is somewhere in the past, or at least not so easily found, or fast. The supported now strain to support, and one longs for it all, again to be the other way around.
Thursday, February 18, 2016. 730pm @ Sullivan Arena, Goffstown, NH – Goffstown vs. Oyster River. Tonight, the Grizzlies from Goffstown hosted the Bobcats from Oyster River in a Division II hockey game, with the chances to host…
Saturday, February 13, 2016. 400pm @ Sullivan Arena, Goffstown, NH – Goffstown vs. Dover. In the end, Goffstown did make the road upset win at Dover stand up. The Grizzlies came out and beat the high-flying Red…
To the game we go. Honestly, I told myself in the very first minute of the game, that unless something went horribly wrong, Goffstown should be in this game until the end. It was apparent early that Goffstown came to play.
24 Hours In February Thursday I was at my Mom and Dad’s house and I was struck by the greenery of the yard, specifically because it was so green, on February 4th here in…
This man wanders some would say but he’d argue there’s cause-
Misunderstood at times because he wishes for a time that was.
I heard him once, calling up from some lonesome ole riverbed-
Why won’t someone come rescue me, so I can rest my weary head.
I’d bring it up to him but he’d reason there’s no need-
Another somewhere in anguish would deserve to be freed.
It was you I came to see, I chose this to do with my day In tears, I left, just how much do these troubles weigh Tone, I can handle some, but I tripped over…
