Champions 2023 – NHIAA Hockey Tournament Bracket

NHIAA Hockey Tournament Brackets – Champions 2023

Well folks, high school playoff hockey time came and went here in New Hampshire, and it was awesome! Congratulations to all of the players that were able to participate in the State Tournament! There are some great people in the state of NH high school hockey. The kids are the reason why there is anything to see or talk about, and remember that they deliver a whole lot more than they don’t. It’s all about the kids.

NHIAA QuarterFinal – (#5) Goffstown 0 at (#4) Merrimack 3

March 05, 2023 – NHIAA QuarterFinal – (#5) Goffstown 0 at (#4) Merrimack 3. There were 35+ minutes of scoreless hockey to start this game. Who netted the first goal was of the utmost importance. The Tomahawks cashed in on a 2-on-1. The Goffstown Grizzlies season ended in the NHIAA Quarterfinal.

Win Lose Or Draw – 2010 Flames

March 4-5, 2023 – Win Lose Or Draw – 2010 Flames. The Flames played at Ristuccia Memorial Arena and Pingree Rink over the weekend. They tied. They lost. They won. They missed the next round by one goal. Win lose or draw, they are our kids. Our team. And I think they have more fun playing than we do watching them.

Three Out Of Four – 2010 Flames

February 25-26, 2023 – Three Out Of Four – 2010 Flames. The 2010 Flames finished their regular season play winning three out of four games over the weekend. With the regular season complete, the Flames earned the #5 seed in the Fed Hockey postseason. And over in GSL Hockey, they bagged the #4 seed. Playoffs begin on March 4th in Fed Hockey and on March 10th for GSL Hockey.

The good Lord has granted us a gift, it’s another brand new day.

Where will we go, what will we do, the opportunity is ours alone.

Our calendar normally has restricted any chance of us getting away.

But it’s morning, I get to hold you and your arms always feel like home.

NHIAA Hockey Tournament Brackets 2023

February 28, 2023 – NHIAA Hockey Tournament Brackets 2023. It’s the final day of February, 2023. The snow is falling, and it feels more like hockey season today, than it has for a lot of this crazy winter. I believe the first game of the Ice Hockey Tournaments starts tonight in Girls Ice Hockey. Check out theΒ Brackets.

10 Wins And They’re In – Goffstown 9 at Timberlane 1

February 25, 2023 – 10 Wins And They’re In. Goffstown traveled down to Salem to play Timberlane in their final regular season game of 2022-2023. The Goffstown Grizzlies took advantage of a couple power plays and skated to a 9-1 victory. The win gave the Goffstown hockey team 10 wins and they’re in to the postseason.

One Too Many – Goffstown 2 vs. Somersworth-Coe-Brown 3

February 22, 2023 – One Too Many. The Goffstown hockey team played an incredible 11:52 of hockey to start the game, but had nothing to show for it. Nothing but a 12-3 advantage in shots. Then they gave up the first goal, or the goal that became one too many.

Digging Holes and Zero Goals – 2010 Flames

February 18-19, 2023 – 2010 Flames – Digging Holes and Zero Goals. The Flames played four games over the weekend, and they won two and loss two. They covered some 250 miles and shared plenty of smiles. But the results were all about digging holes and zero goals.

Tough Road Win – Goffstown 4 at Alvirne-Milford 3

February 15, 2023 – Tough Road Win. The Grizzlies arrived in the land of marching bands and senior celebrations at a crowded house down at Skate 3. They played a gritty, come from behind game against a good team, and came away with a tough road win, 4-3.

We Can Do Better – 2010 Flames – 10 Days in February

February 03 – 12, 2023 – 2010 Flames – We Can Do Better. This is a story of 10 days in February. Hockey, skating, and rinks everywhere. The 2010 Flames played 6 games in this span, with a 2-2-2 record. Stick with me here, because I think we can do better.

Back To Basics – Goffstown 4 vs. Nashua South Pelham 2

February 06, 2023 – Back To Basics: With a few changes in the lineup due to some shifts in players dressed for the game, the Goffstown Grizzlies got back to basics. They played more players in the game overall, and chemistry was replaced with focus on making good hockey plays.

Early And Late – Goffstown 3 at Dover 5

February 04, 2023 – Early And Late: This was a good matchup for the Goffstown Grizzlies. The game was quite competitive. The Goffstown hockey team played well for stretches of this game, but they got beat early and late. That was the difference in their 5-3 loss at Dover.

Where’s The Heart – Goffstown 4 vs. Nashua North – Souhegan 6

January 26, 2023 – The Goffstown Grizzlies had a 4-1 lead. Then came 5 unanswered goals from the Nashua North Souhegan hockey team, which made some wonder, where’s the heart? from the Goffstown hockey squad.

I was unable to attend the game on Thursday night, but I got this quote from a very reliable source who was at the game. “6-4, lost to Nashua. 5 unanswered goals. Zero heart. Print that.” I also got this, “Lost, 6-4. Gave up 5 unanswered goals…skated around like they never played before.”

Grizzlies Again In OT – Goffstown 4 vs. Spaulding 3 (OT)

February 02, 2023 – On January 7th these two teams played an overtime game. Goffstown was able to get the win. Then on Thursday night, they played at Sullivan Arena, and it was the Grizzlies again in OT. This time it was 4-3.

Start To Finish – Goffstown 1 vs. Winnacunnet 0

January 30, 2023 – This game was a real treat from start to finish, one goal scored or not. End to end action with other-worldly goaltending and a great play for the lone goal of the game. I tip my cap to both teams, both coaches, and the officials. This was a beauty.

It wasn't to be

It Wasn’t To Be – Goffstown 1 at Portsmouth-Newmarket 2

January 28, 2023 – The Goffstown Grizzlies fell behind, 2-0 and then spent the rest of the game throwing everything they could at the net. It wasn’t to be. The Goffstown hockey team fell, 2-1 despite piling up 35 shots on goal over the final 30 minutes.

2010 Flames – 3-2-1 In Pictures

January 22, 2023 – 2010 Flames – 3-2-1 in pictures.

Some weekends look better on the ice than other weekends. These are pre-teen kids and sometimes they play up to competition, sometimes they play down to it. Either way, they give a lot of effort. Perhaps their tireless effort could be stretched much further as their ability to move up and down the ice as a team improves.

Come Back To Even – Goffstown 2 at Winnacunnet 2

January 21, 2023 – The Goffstown Grizzlies Hockey team fell behind and then worked to come back to even.

Another Saturday, another undefeated opponent for the Grizzlies to play. Goffstown hockey battled back with a better skating game and passing game as the afternoon went on. Eventually, they were able to persevere and come back to even. It looked to me like they still had gas in the tank at the end of overtime too.

2010 Flames – Saved Their Best For Last

January 16, 2023 – 2010 Flames – Saved their best for last

On Saturday morning they lost out in Dover, NH, then pitched a shutout win in Wilmington, MA in the evening. On Sunday morning they found a way to win in Vermont, and then won again back in Manchester, NH on Sunday night. But Monday night they saved their best for last with a 3-2 win at West Side Arena.

Turned And Tied – Goffstown 5 vs. St. Thomas 5

January 14, 2023 – Did anyone see it coming? The game was turned and tied – four times.

It started like we might have expected, getting pummeled by a count of 19 shots to 5. With St. Thomas scoring a goal in the last 30 seconds to take a 2-1 lead to the break. 341 days earlier, the Grizzlies were outshot 36-5 after the first period while hosting the Saints. But, on Saturday, Goffstown got the game turned and tied.

How Bad Do You Want It – Goffstown 2 at Somersworth-Coe Brown 5

December 21, 2022 – How Bad Do You Want It? – Rochester, NH

I watched the five goals allowed by the Goffstown Grizzlies over and over again. All I could come up with was this. How bad do you want it? To me, a huge part of ‘wanting it’ is learning the game. Learn the positioning and structure. And by all means, don’t just stand around and watch the other team demonstrate their skill and determination to beat you.

Hockey: Opening Night Win – Goffstown 6 vs. Alvirne-Milford 3

December 17, 2022 – Opening Night Win – St. Anselm College – Goffstown, NH –

It is a brand new season and many people have ideas on how this season may go, but the beauty is that the games still must be played. Do we ever really know? Maybe. Since games are only played one at a time, G-Town-Nation might as well celebrate the fact that Goffstown opened with a 6-3 opening night win to start their season.

Stop The Puck – Goffstown 2 at Merrimack 0

January 11, 2023 – Jake Webber had one mission, stop the puck.

Sometimes you show up to play as a team and everyone gives it all they have, and it’s enough. Then you have a day like today when one of your teammates just plays a game up in the stratosphere somewhere. The Grizzlies played hard and even played some pretty stingy team defense, but their best defender today, was their goaltender. What a performance.

2010 Flames – Where Are We – After A Saturday Split

Saturday, January 7, 2023 – 2010 Flames – Where Are We

In my opinion, what we saw on Saturday was not the best version of the 2010 Flames in-game skills. It was not a true depiction of their improved development as players, as a team. I left West Side Arena late in the afternoon, muttering to myself, “Where are we, as a team?”, “What is their hockey IQ?” and “What a comeback!” all at the same time.

Move The Puck – Goffstown 6 vs. Timberlane 2

January 7, 2023 – Grizzlies move the puck in win over Owls –

It was my fourth visit to a rink in the same day. I was in desperate need of watching some good puck movement by a team I was vested in. When I left Rochester on Wednesday night, I was thinking, “too much running around”. On Saturday night I was pleasantly surprised by how well Goffstown was able to move the puck.
