West 2022 – Last Evening in Badlands NP

Last Evening in Badlands NP

After my searing hike up Saddle Pass and around the loop trail, and a quick visit to Wall Drug, I returned for my final evening in Badlands National Park. Also, I had decided on doing a couple more hikes, albeit very short hikes.

West 2022 – Daytime at Badlands

Daytime at Badlands

After a 700+ mile drive from Illinois to South Dakota on a Thursday in June. I enjoyed a gorgeous evening visit to Badlands National Park. As darkness fell, I returned to Wall, SD for a good night’s rest while looking forward to spending the next day (Friday) at the park.

West 2022 – Travel Day to Start

Travel Day to Start

They say that “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. I guess it was the Chinese that said it, but regardless, it’s true. So, I figured that a trip consisting of 10,000 plus miles also started the same way. On June 14, 2022 I put the years of planning into action.

Colors In The Sky

Under an immense and ever changing canvas, some moments seem to stand still. Yet only in the capturing of a photo does the sky pause long enough for a closer look. Click on the picture…

I Call It Home

I may not own a kingdom, or even a castle if truth be told. Oh but there is joy whenever I cross that simple threshold. I am not a royal, or high-ranking, and certainly not…

Day Five. Turner, Maine. Martin Stream Campground.

We had a sunny, quiet morning along Martin Stream. We had lobster and steamers, with corn on the cob, and assorted pasta salads put on by the campground for lunch.

One Mile Color

This fall has been a warm one here in NH. Traveling throughout New England this fall, I have noticed that in different regions of Northern New England the colors have ranged from breathtaking to just plain beautiful.

NH – Wild North

After my One Night In Pittsburg, it was time to head south again. Though I am always reluctant to leave. In part, I love the pace or the lack thereof up in the north country, then I also know that once I am back home, the pace waits for no one.

The Northern Lights forecast that I check periodically.

Late on the evening of March 29, 2017, somewhere around 11:00 pm, I was compelled to check a website that I check off and on, throughout the year. I am not sure why I was prompted to check this site on that night but I did.

Winter Week

After a week of good old-fashioned winter weather, things are looking a little better around here. We had 31.5″ of snow in the last 7 days. Finally, a week of winter, to help rescue us…

Wet Snow

As I made my way around town this morning, I marveled with the kids at the spectacle of the winter wonderland we passed through. The limbs all around us, bending low, to display their burden in…
