Goffstown

Our Kids and the Class of 2020

It might have been eight or more weeks ago that I started thinking about this piece. It has likely changed its form within my wandering brain several times since then, but finally I arrived at some words to put down. Random thoughts, lyrics, lines of poetry, and words have surfaced during long drives and sleepless hours in the early mornings.

Goffstown Grizzlies Baseball 2018: Season End

The media covered it all. Social media has shared it, posted it, messaged about it, commented on it, and talked up one side and down the other about the game. The community showed up. Little leaguers dreamt. Players past and future all ached for a big hit. Students were noticeably immense. Parents glowed, they wished the pain to carry, then they returned from the glorious trip’s end. Coaches planned, paced, and in the end tipped their caps. Town sports. Team sports. Competition. Ultimately, it was all about the kids. As it should be.

One Mile Color

This fall has been a warm one here in NH. Traveling throughout New England this fall, I have noticed that in different regions of Northern New England the colors have ranged from breathtaking to just plain beautiful.

Winter Week

After a week of good old-fashioned winter weather, things are looking a little better around here. We had 31.5″ of snow in the last 7 days. Finally, a week of winter, to help rescue us…

Wet Snow

As I made my way around town this morning, I marveled with the kids at the spectacleΒ of the winter wonderland we passed through. The limbs all around us, bending low, to display their burden in…

The Story of the Show Tree

This tree dazzled all that passed by, with its’ brilliance in color and personality.

But I paid attention when it beckoned, and I listened to what it had to say to me.

On My Mind and More

Well, sometimes I look at Facebook, and I respond literally to the question: “What’s on your mind?” Today I had a whole slew of answers, some of which I verbalized into the empty room surrounding me. Mostly they were superficial and not predicated on anything too important.

1st Grade: First Day 2016

As Jacqueline said to me this morning while tieing her own sneakers, “Well Dad, I guess we are officially first-graders now.” Yes you are. And off to school they go, beginning the 2016-17 school year.…

We Miss You Mrs. Tefft

Wendy Tefft (1977-2106).

Wendy Tefft, 38, of Dunbarton, died September 1 2016.

Wendy taught Kindergarten at Glen Lake School in Goffstown NH, where she was employed for two years.

Tomorrow, another school year begins in Goffstown, NH. Yet, tonight, for the third time in four days, I was stopped in my tracks when I saw the obituary for Mrs. Wendy Tefft online. We all should be seeing her tomorrow, standing out front, smiling, and greeting all. Imagine how long the list of accolades and kind words would be if Mrs. Tefft hadn’t been taken so soon. We were some of the fortunate ones that got to feel her impact. We all will miss her here in this community.

Two guys and an afternoon

Two guys and an afternoon

Recently I set some time aside to visit with an old friend. This man I visited with, he has seen some very rough patches of road this year. His health has given him a run for his money and put himself and loved ones on high alert. While he’d be the first one to remind me that I wasn’t lucky enough to get rid of him yet, we stared at finality together and we talked about it.Β

Flames 16U Take Bronze at Nationals

Only one team every year gets to end their season and post-season with a win in any given level of play. That’s very difficult to achieve, and people lose sight of the teams (everyone else) that doesn’t win their final game of the season, or even qualify for post-season play.

24 Hours in February

24 Hours In February   Thursday I was at my Mom and Dad’s house and I was struck by the greenery of the yard, specifically because it was so green, on February 4th here in…

Blessed Mornings

Then right in the middle of overtired, battling every cold that comes home, body aching, attitudes in need of adjustment, and a list of things to get done that just won’t quit; there is peace in prayer.

LOL (Lots of Lightning)

Well, after looking through the 100+ pictures I took last night, I confirmed that I am not very good at this stuff. I managed to get these shots which looked better in person, as lightning…
