Takakkaw Falls (Yoho NP)

There are some places that just grab your attention like few others. Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park is one of those places for me. Once I spotted the falls, I twisted and turned, leaning and looking around each bend in the winding road to get another glimpse, even though that is where we were headed. Upon finding a parking spot, the exploration began. The falls are magnificent which is loosely what the Cree word Takakkaw means, I am told. The entire valley is incredible. I wandered up the flats, away from the falls to the north, along the Yoho River. I pictured myself carrying a backpack and just taking all of this country in while on foot and looking for a place to camp when I was done for the day.
