The Palace Studio: A Fireside Chat

Eyes Closed – Mind Open

I woke up this morning with a simple question already in my mind before my eyes even opened. The question was this? “Mustn’t the status of my soul be a reflection of its proximity to my Savior? Nothing to do with The Palace Studio.

The Holy Spirit

Obviously the Holy Spirit had set this question before me because I hadn’t even checked the time, or the day for that matter. This one question led to more questions, writing, and asking more questions. My morning became a chat like I would love to explore in the open space of the vast night sky while sitting beside a fire in our fire pit.

The Palace Studio

I wrote into my phone like I was speaking the words: “For me, humbly pursuing ministry for Him, it feels like a studio at the Master’s palace where all is Love all is safe. Creativity flows, toward and for Him. All of it, and it’s energized by the spark that is the Holy Spirit. Urgency then persists while there is time in this place of peace. There are many who need to know”… and on I went.

The Family Leader

Fast forward to later this morning when I left that train of thought and remembered that today, ten years ago this morning, my Dad was called to his heavenly home. Dad was the spiritual leader in our house, in our family. For the last week I wanted to lead the day with something about my Dad. The Holy Spirit led me to and through a project that ultimately has me tipping my cap and looking directly at my Dad. I couldn’t have made this up.

My Dad Thought Today

The other day I was in church, looking up scripture in one of Dad’s old Bibles (I cherish it). We were in II Corinthians 12. Then I saw Dad’s writing in the margin. “My grace – My strength is made – In witness…(Christ’s Power) rests on We” (He and I). It was an excellent way to frame the verse, verse 9. As I looked at all of this again this morning, I was left wishing (really waiting) for the time we are next together and I can ask him about these notes and countless others.

I love you, Dad. Thank you.

Bridge to the Booklet

That one question from the Holy Spirit this morning led to a flood of thoughts and a conversation I felt I had to get down. It became a short digital booklet I call “The Palace Studio.” It’s a fireside chat about the soul, the cross, and the overflow. If my Dad’s story or my morning journey resonates with you, I pray this does too.
